Parks rePLAY Announcement


Valpo Parks has announced a significant investment in the city's park system with the launch of the "rePLAY" initiative. This $10 million initiative will enhance and upgrade 10 existing parks in 2025. The rePLAY initiative will prioritize enhancing patron accessibility, addressing infrastructure needs, implementing safety measures and investing in sustainability practices. Improvements will encompass a wide range of enhancements, including upgraded playgrounds, restrooms, shelters, sports fields, and pickleball courts, ensuring a more enjoyable and inclusive park experience for all. Follow this page for updates and engagement opportunities.

Valparaiso Community Conference April 17

You're invited to the Valparaiso Community Conference - the perfect space to spark connections! With a mix of insightful speakers, hands-on workshops and networking opportunities, there is something for everyone. You will walk away with new relationships and opportunities to immediately become more active in the Valparaiso community. The Community Conference will be held on Thursday, April 17 from noon to 5:00 pm at the Harre Union at Valparaiso University. MLK Day Food Drive January 20 - Location update!

In honor of Martin Luther King Day, the City of Valparaiso will host a drop off food drive on Monday, January 20 at Valparaiso City Hall (166 Lincolnway) and the Valpo Parks Administration Office (3210 Campbell St) from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Please note the location change in response to the weather. Suggested donations include non-perishable pantry items, such as peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti sauce and noodles, etc. Check out Hilltop Food Pantry's wish list for suggested items.

Neighborhood Workshop January 22

The Community Engagement Department will host a Neighborhood Workshop on January 22 from 5:30-7:00 pm at Valparaiso City Hall. Neighborhood Workshops provide an opportunity for neighborhood representatives to connect, learn from each other and become more familiar with available services. View the agenda. Topics will include the Neighborhood Improvement Grant Program, artistic grant project ideas and more. Please RSVP to represent your neighborhood.

Memorial Opera House


The City of Valparaiso, Valpo Parks and the Porter County Commissioners announce a new management agreement for the Memorial Opera House, effective January 1, 2025. Under this agreement, Valpo Parks will assume responsibility for the day-to-day management and operations of this beloved community landmark. The Memorial Opera House will continue to host a diverse range of programming, including live theater productions, concerts, and community events. The existing Opera House staff will remain in place, providing valuable experience and continuity for patrons and partners. Valpo Parks is committed to working with existing user groups and stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition and to foster a collaborative environment for the arts in Valparaiso. Learn more.
