As I was telling one of my customers last week, I have really good ideas, and then I have ideas. This article will fall into the latter...it's just an idea.

The next 10 weeks for you are going to be crucial in determining how you finish up the year with your total sales.

Most of the stores I visit, are packed. They are essentially overflowing with merchandise and struggle where to fit it all in.

Many stores also have some really old merchandise that they have too much of that just doesn't sell.

I'm sure you know the adage "I could sell anything the last week before Christmas".

Here's my idea. Pull all your low performing products, and put it in storage. For your peak weeks that are approaching, have in your store just the best of the best (and displayed well). Show your customers just your great products for these 8 weeks.

Then around December 15th, bring out of storage your less than desired products. By then, your shelves will have emptied out and this can give you a needed boost for the final days. It will also look like new product just arriving.

It's a chance to really test that theory about being able to sell anything that last week before Christmas.
