A Message From Our Board Chair

New Mexico’s bioscience industry has reached a historic turning point. Alex Koglin, Ph.D., and I recently had the opportunity to discuss this shift on KSFR’s radio broadcast, Living on the Edge, and it’s a message I had the honor of sharing personally throughout the halls of the Roundhouse this session.

We owe a collective "thank you" to our Legislature for their continued dialogue and support of the NMBSA. In particular, Senator George Muñoz and Representative Meredith Dixon have been our strongest champions. Thanks to their leadership, we are closer than ever to securing the resources needed to create a more prosperous, diversified future for all New Mexicans.

While we didn't cross the finish line on all the major funding packages we sought this time around, we are encouraged by the significant momentum we've built. The NMBSA remains steadfastly focused on our three pillars: infrastructure, personnel, and capital. Our work on your behalf continues daily, ensuring that the needs of our startups and established partners remain a priority for the state.

Bioscience is vital to our collective health in so many ways—from protecting our livestock and securing our food supply to pioneering innovations in med-tech and manufacturing. With our world-class national labs, research universities, and unique startup programs, New Mexico is uniquely poised to lead this sector nationally.

Together, we are proving that bioscience is New Mexico’s future. Thank you for your partnership in this journey.

Board Chair
