Hello fellow Optimists –
We've accomplished so much together in 2023-2024! From big strides to small steps, this year has been a testament to the power of optimism. We set out to recognize the profound truth – we matter. The third pillar of our mission statement truly matters. Being an Optimist means embracing optimism, living it out as an Optimist with a capital ‘O.’
Since the turn of the Optimist year, I've been reflecting on the impact we've made. Did we do enough? Did I do enough? How many bites did we take of the elephant this year? There's always so much to accomplish in the short span from October to September.
Our core values as Optimists guide us forward. They shape us into an organization that operates with integrity, respect, and consideration for our global community.
Traveling around our organization and volunteering alongside our members at some of the most fabulous events in your communities has been a dream come true. There’s nothing that makes me prouder than witnessing our impact on youth and communities firsthand.
The requirements for honour and distinguished status are one measure we use to identify a successful club, but I challenge you to recognize that it's not the only way. If your club is bringing out the best, embodying our core values and upholding all three pillars of our mission statement, you are a successful Club and a successful member.
Please continue to focus on youth and communities. But for the sake of Optimism with a capital ‘O,’ please also focus on bringing out the best in yourself.
Yours in Optimism,
