A Note From DAP Executive Director Michelle Brown

It's been a busy summer here at DAP! Our team has been tirelessly supporting survivors and their children while managing community outreach, trainings, grant work, and anniversary planning.

This October, DAP celebrates 50 years of service in Delaware County. DAP's history and the people who built this organization - generations of staff, volunteers, board members, donors, and community partners - are the reason we are still here today.

Over time, however, we've lost touch with so many of these people who made us who we are. I invite you to share your stories, photos, and memories as we celebrate our first fifty years. Reach out to anyone you know who used to be engaged with DAP and encourage them to share with us and to also provide updated contact information.

Thank you for being part of this community and helping ensure survivors across Delaware County have a safe place to call.

Summer at DAP: What We've Been Up To

Over the past several months, DAP staff have spent time in neighborhoods, schools, healthcare settings, community events, workplaces, and faith communities throughout Delaware County.

While much of DAP's work happens privately, our outreach efforts are just one of the ways we help ensure that survivors know where to turn when they need help.

Increasingly, people are reaching out. Here are just a few examples of our work over the last year:

  • Hotline & referral calls increased by 12%.
  • Telehealth counseling sessions increased by nearly 32%.
  • Children's counseling increased by 45%.
  • Nearly 1,600 community members participated in education & outreach efforts

Penncrest H.S., led by Mira S., started a One Love chapter and led a drive at the end of the school year to collect products needed by survivors at DAP.

Widener University and DAP presented to new students about campus safety and the resources available to them. This was one of many visits to campuses in the county.

DAP attended 19 community National Night Out events across Delaware County and in partnership with police departments and other emergency service departments.

DAP supported the Media 5-Miler by volunteering during the event and cheering on runner! DAP has been a grateful recipient of funding as a result of this annual event.

DAP Board and Committee members came together in August for their second annual Board Retreat to connect, learn more about DAP services, challenges and to plan

for the years ahead.

We've been behind the scenes creating a video to capture DAP's

work, impact and the experiences of survivors, their families, and our volunteers, like Cynthia Jetter, a former board member and current Thrift & Thrive volunteer.

Are You a Part of DAP's Story?

As we celebrate 50 Years of Safety, Hope & Healing, we would love to reconnect with the people who helped build this organization.

Are you a former board member, volunteer, staff member, intern, or community partner?

Whether you were involved five years ago or forty-five years ago, you remain part of DAP's history.

We want to hear from you! Click below to share your DAP memory or send us an email at development@dapdc.org.

DV Night at the Bank

DAP joined other area DV agencies for DV Awareness Night at Citizens Bank Park as the Phillies took on the Braves. This event was presented in partnership with the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV) and Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation. We were able to provide resources and help collect basic necessities to support survivors as fans entered the stadium.

If you or someone you know needs help, our 24/7 Hotline is 610-565-4590.
