Fight the Bite

Summer rain has left behind standing water — the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes that hatch in just 7 days!

Take action now:

  • Remove or puncture items that collect water
  • Wear long sleeves + pants at dawn & dusk, or use EPA-registered insect repellent
  • Dump standing water around your home

The most recent City Council meeting took place on July 24, 2025.

Highlights included:

City Council agreed to the construction of the RE|CREATE project, a visionary repurposing of the former public library into a dynamic facility overseen by the Parks and Recreation Department. Designed as a multigenerational space, RE|CREATE will serve residents of all ages, providing inclusive environments where generations can connect, learn, and create together through multidisciplinary art and culture options, including visual arts, performing arts, cultural workshops, and interactive exhibits to inspire creativity and foster belonging. The Cedar Park City Council agreed to the construction and repurposing of the RE|CREATE project, not to exceed $4,074,099, reflecting the City's commitment to transforming spaces into vibrant hubs that enhance quality of life. View the presentation for design concepts and additional information.

Complementing this is the Town Center Park Tunnel Lighting Project, which upgrades infrastructure by installing new interactive LED lighting fixtures, security cameras, and solar power at the two pedestrian underpass tunnels under Discovery Blvd.

These enhancements illuminate pathways for safer evening use, add engaging features, and promote sustainability. View the presentation for full information on this project.

Both projects exemplify the effective use of Type B funding, administered by the Cedar Park Community Development Corporation Type B Board, a dedicated stream from local sales tax revenue allocated for community-oriented developments like parks, recreational facilities, and cultural amenities. Unlike general funds, Type B dollars are specifically tied to sales tax, with residents' contributions fueling these enhancements. So Don’t Branch Out! Shop Cedar Park and ensure that every dollar spent within Cedar Park city limits supports initiatives like RE|CREATE and the Town Center Park upgrades. Find out more about Don’t Branch Out online.
