Kung Hei Fat Choi! Happy Year of the Snake!

Here we are at the end of January already, and love is in the air.

February can be a harsh month, so it’s a good thing there are plenty of distractions!

Winterlicious begins today, and although we all have our favourites, it’s a wonderful opportunity to try something new. Two of my favourites are part of it, La Palma and Chiado. Curiously, Le Baratin isn’t taking part, but they offer a wonderful prix-fixe all year round.

Valentine’s Day is just two weeks away, so you have a little time to make a dinner reservation, and nobody is going to be disappointed by a fancy box of chocolates. As you know, my favourite is Soma, so it’s no surprise that it’s on the top of BlogTO’s list of the city’s best. But if they missed a hidden gem, please let me know!

Winter may seem long if you’re not doing anything, but if you keep active, spring is here before you know it! If you’re more of an outdoorsy type, there are opportunities to get you out of the winter doldrums, including; skating, snowshoeing, skiing. Make sure you dress for the weather!

As for the market, the Bank of Canada has lowered the key rate by .25%, which is good news for variable rate mortgage holders, and will hopefully give buyers the nudge they need this spring. The next announcement will be on March 12. In other good news, it appears that the proposed Capital Gains tax has been deferred until 2026. If you have any questions about what this means for you, please get in touch!

I do have an active listing I would like to showcase, a beautifully renovated bungalow in coveted Guildwood Village. Have a look! And happy to report that my listing on Northcote has sold - so happy for the sellers and the lucky buyers!

As always, any referrals you may have are greatly appreciated. Please forward this to any friends or family who may be considering buying or selling in the coming months!

Take good care, hope to see you soon, and toodle loo for now.

Market Report

The Greater Toronto Area housing market experienced a transitionary year in 2024. Annual sales were up slightly compared to 2023, and new listings were up significantly year-over-year. Buyers benefited from substantial negotiating power on price, especially in the condominium apartment market. Average selling prices in 2024 dipped in comparison to 2023 as a result.
