Candidates running for the Board -- you, too?

By Darien De Lu, Elections Subcommittee

We're nearing the deadline for those considering applying to be candidates for the elections -- and for all WILPF US members to be sure their membership is current, so that you'll receive a ballot to vote in February!

Did you notice the Jan. 6 eNews, which provided info and links for the elections? You can see that article here. Remember: complete application materials from candidates must be received by Jan. 24. (See below for possible candidates list, so far. We welcome additional applicants and inquiries!)

Members can view all applications, recommendations, and other related information from the candidates at  www.wilpfus.org/story/candidates-documents, where we're posting them as they're available. That's a members only webpage, not linked to the homepage or other webpages on the WILPF US website. (Please share it with your WILPF member contacts who may not get this eAlert.)

Please email the Elections Subcommittee at nominations@wilpfus.org.to ask any other questions not answered by the websites above and the linked documents.

So far, the Elections Subcommittee has been in touch with eight potential candidates for the seven board openings, and we have received qualifying application materials from one of them.

An application has been received from this member:
  1. Applicant: Laura A. Dewey, Detroit, MI Branch: Nominations Committee Chair
Potential candidates include the following WILPF US members (in reverse alphabetical order):
  1. Barbara L Nielsen, San Francisco, CA Branch: office unknown
  2. Mary Hanson Harrison, Des Moines, IA Branch: President (incumbent)
  3. Dixie Hairston, Houston TX Branch: At-Large Board member
  4. Marybeth Gardam, Winter Haven, FL (at-large member): Development Committee Chair
  5. Maureen Ngozi Eke, Mt. Pleasant, MI (at-large member): Program Chair (incumbent)
  6. Jeanmarie (Simpson) Bishop, AZ (at-large member): Treasurer
Remember to save the date to listen in to the meet-the-candidates call, Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at 7 pm EST, 6 pm CST, 5 pm MST, and 4 pm PST. Full details were in the 1/6/17 eNews (and now on the webpage above). Do you have a question you'd like us to ask the candidates? Please send it to us.

Seize your opportunity to make a difference, starting today! Run, inform yourself, and watch for your mailed ballot packet in mid-February. Your involvement makes a difference!
