“At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of parents with teachers.”
Dear Southern Door Community
As we complete the first half of the marking period, ensuring that routines are established and the foundation for strong relationships with our students continues to be our priority every day. The research strongly supports that building relationships and engaging our students impacts their confidence and ability to grow.
Those relationships are huge, with you as our families, and the community as well. Evidence of this success was the wonderful turnout we had for last week's Grandparent & Special Friend Day, where over 550 individuals visited our elementary school for the morning. A special thank you to the Brussels Lions Club for providing additional wheelchairs for middle school students to use when assisting those in need. We also thank Jim Olson, for providing a driver and a van to pick up guests from the various parking lots. We greatly appreciate the many volunteers, retirees, and staff, who all pitched in to make the event such a success!
Together, it is this collaborative effort of so many on behalf of our students, that ultimately contributes greatly to the success of Southern Door students, and the opportunities that are provided to them. We encourage your involvement in our schools, whether as a parent, community volunteer, or a school-business partner.
Together We Are Eagle Proud and Eagle Strong!
Patti

ELEMENTARY AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM OFFERS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITIES
The children in our 21st Century Community Learning Center were able to experience what it is like to make apple sauce from scratch. Under the supervision of Gina Guth and their teachers they each got to use an apple peeler/corer to prepare the apples for cooking. Once cooked, each student was given a container of the sauce to add sugar and cinnamon. If you'd like your child to participate in our new after school program, please contact our site coordinator, Stephanie DeJardin, for more details at
