Greetings!

This Advent, we wrestle with what it means for the eternal to enter the temporal. The Village community practices many daily rhythms of preparation and anticipation.

We are planning meals, ordering food, decorating the Dining Hall with cedar garlands and folded paper stars, hand-crafting ornaments for our Jesse Tree, rehearsing holiday plays and music, washing quilts, and stomping snow paths, as we prepare to welcome guests for Christmas & New Year’s. We invite you to join us in the practice of creating a Jesse Tree with handmade ornaments that tell the story of the history leading up to Christ's birth.

The spirit of preparation extends to welcoming college students for J-Term and organizing Holden’s summer program and recruiting staff, and all the other things that it takes to run this Village.

Ponder with us on how to be awake to God's loving presence calling us in our daily life, singing to us as one of us, and drawing us into practices of justice that can only be taken up with human hands.

Faithfully,
Stacy Kitahata, Mark Bach, and Kathie Bach

Women's Retreat
Join us for a weekend of rest, release, and abundance as it relates to our summer 2022 theme, Jubilee.

February 4-7, 2022

This is a phenomenal opportunity to form new relationships, and join in conversation with other women!
Holden Village applies an expansive understanding of women and welcomes trans women and non-binary folks. Attendees only need to identify as women in a way that is significant to them.

Enjoy teaching sessions, group conversation, end-of-day reflections, crafting, and encountering the outdoors including cross country skiing (snow permitting) and snowshoeing.
Plan Your 2022 Visit!
While Holden Village is currently covered in over two feet of snow, it's already time to start thinking ahead to summer and beyond.

Registration opens on January 4, 2022 at 8am Pacific Time for May 1, 2022 - January 1, 2023.

Come to the Village in the summer for engaging teaching faculty sessions, phenomenal hiking, creative art classes, music-making, daily rhythms of liturgy, activities for children and youth, and more!

Holden at Home
Join Villagers in the Advent practice of a Jesse Tree! This tree starts out as a large bare branch and becomes filled with handmade ornaments that tell the story of the history leading up to Christ's birth.

Ornaments can be crafted from by needle felting, woodworking, items collected in nature, repurposed office supplies and more - the ideas are endless. While the number of days in Advent are dwindling, please share in this practice with what time we have left until Christmas.
Holden Voices
"So yes, we can pray with our bodies. Yes, we can pray with our imagination, we can pray through our feelings and not be overcome by them. All of us, all of our being can show up, be welcomed in the Spirit."

She founded and facilitates Way of the Spirit—a prayer and study program for growth in spiritual discernment from the wisdom of the Quaker tradition.
