10/21 Lunch-and-Learn Webinar: Economics of Green Infrastructure
In the fifth session of our 2021 lunch-and-learn webinar series, join CARPC staff and our panel of guest speakers to learn more about the economics of implementing green infrastructure in your community.
An analysis of Dane County demographic, economic, housing, land use, and transportation data is now available. CARPC staff prepared this report to characterize recent trends and project future changes out to 2050 as part of the Regional Development Framework update process.
Volunteers Needed: Salt Monitoring in Starkweather Creek
Interested in seeing how deicing salt is impacting our surface waters? Have easy access to Starkweather Creek? We are looking for volunteers to measure chloride levels at four locations along Starkweather Creek: Melvin Ct, Fair Oaks Ave, Ivy St, and Route 30. All training and equipment will be provided - no experience necessary.
Sound fun? Email Matt Noone for more information or visit the project website.
The Greater Madison MPO will be hosting two public meetings in November to provide information and gather feedback on the 2050 Regional Transportation Plan update. MPO staff will go over public feedback to date, results of recent planning work, draft RTP goals and policies, and next steps prior to releasing the draft plan early next year.
The Neighborhood Modeling System at UW-Madison DPLA
The late Rich McLaughlin, a Twin Cities-area planner, developed the Neighborhood Modeling System as a tool for visualizing alternative development scenarios. CARPC's NMS set has been used to model alternatives for sites in Madison, Fitchburg, Stoughton, McFarland, and Cottage Grove. UW-Madison's Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture is now home to the remaining NMS inventory, thanks to a generous donation by Rich's life partner and URPL grad Lucy Thompson.
