To commemorate this milestone year, the Coastal Commission is embarking on a year-long celebration of the past 50 years of coastal protection and the next 50 (and more!) to come. Thanks to the Coastal Act, sensitive ecosystems and natural resources are protected, public access is ensured, and coastal dependent activities can thrive. We don’t even want to imagine a California without the Coastal Act to protect our right to access and enjoy the coast, so we are taking this opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of these past 50 years and the many more to come.
