This past week, you toured your hometowns and got a fresh perspective on the best of Habersham County.
You got stamped, you got “selfie-d”-
you EXPLORED!
The inaugural
Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown
brought a flurry of passport-bearers to all corners of the county, resulting in increased foot traffic to businesses, museums, historic and recreational sites, and filling up our Instagram feed with #ItsHappeningInHabersham posts.
We asked a few “tourists” and business owners for some feedback, and here is what we have heard:
- “This has been so much fun. I’ve seen places in Habersham County that I never knew were here.”
- “Our store has seen new customers, and regardless of whether they are making a purchase today, they now know we are here- and that’s what’s been so great about this idea.”
- “This was a great field trip for our home-school group. We learned a lot about our own area.”
Although the contest is officially over, passports can still be turned in until today (Monday) at 5pm to the drop off locations listed on the back of the passports. We will hold the drawing on Facebook Live on
Tuesday, May 14
th
at Noon.
We hope this contest ignited a newfound appreciation for all that we have here in our county. Our best spokespeople are our own people, so spread the word to your friends and family who live outside of our area and be sure to let them know that
