In Memory Of
Northwest Barrister
(Immortal Command x Rogue's Midnight Special)
1997 - 2019
From Shelley Bullard

On April 4, I lost my own "Buster" (Northwest Barrister). We treated him aggressively but unsuccessfully for colic. That night he simply laid down and left us - in the same stall where he was born.

Buster was by Immortal Command, and out of the mare Rogues Midnight Special. He was all Morgan and touched many lives as a show horse, therapy horse, teacher, trail/hunting companion, & playmate. A tribute to him was prepared by Melissa. (She is the little girl in the hammock in one of the photos in the attached video. She talked us into sleeping in his dam's stall when she was close to foaling. She also stayed by Buster's side the evening he left us.)

~~~~~
Northwest Barrister was a fixture at Morgan horse shows in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to successfully competing with his amateur owner, Shelley Bullard, in Western and Trail classes, he gave numerous riders their first experience in the show ring. When not showing, he participated in community service, enjoyed trail rides, taught novice riders, helped out on hunting trips, and was always the most beautiful creature in the barn or pasture. He was much loved and has left a void in our herd and in our hearts at Northwest Morgans.
The Rainbow Bridge For Horses
Author Unknown
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
when their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
is a place where beloved creatures find rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
til The Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed.
Their bodies have healed with strength imbued.
They trot through the grass without even a care,
til one day they whinny and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes sharp and alert.
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the herd.
For just at that second, there's no room for remorse.
As they see each other...one person...one horse.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart
has turned to joy once more in each heart.
They nuzzle with a love that will last forever.
And then, side-by-side, they cross over...together.
Celebration of Life for Alex Mooney
Alex Mooney
April 4, 1992 – April 2, 2019
Alex was born in Corvallis, Oregon, April 4,1992. She’s survived by her mother Sara Plumley Breyman; her stepdad David Breyman; father Mike Mooney; Liz Breyman stepsister; grandparents Neil and Sally Plumley. Alex passed away in Phoenix, Arizona, at st Joseph’s Hospital due to complications of cystic fibrosis. Alex had received two double-lung transplants and lived her life to the fullest, and truly was an inspiration to all. Alex loved her Morgan horses and was a world Champion equestrian. She had just fulfilled her final dream of being a professional instructor and trainer, competing just two weeks before passing. Her first horse show as a young trainer was a huge success. Alex will be dearly missed, and her one wish is to find a cure for cystic fibrosis. You can donate in Alex Mooney’s name at www.cff.org
