Historical Tidbit: Nahum Mitchell's History of the Early Settlement of Bridgewater, in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, 1840 |
| | "The South Parish was settled soon after the West Parish, and on June 1, 1716, was incorporated as the second precinct. It encompassed what is now the town of Bridgewater. The Second Church of Bridgewater was established there, its meeting house was dedicated June 14, 1717 and its first minister was ordained in 1718. In the East Parish the meeting house of the Third Church of Bridgewater was raised on March 14, 1720 and its first minister ordained in 1724. On December 14, 1723, the East Parish was constituted the third precinct. Settlement of the North Parish began in 1679, and on January 3, 1738, it was incorporated as a precinct. The meeting house of the Fourth Church of Bridgewater was erected there in 1737 and a church organized with its first minister ordained in 1740. On February 4, 1743, the Titicut Parish was incorporated as a precinct lying along both banks of the Taunton River and including part of the current town of Middleborough, and having its own meeting house and minister."

Jack Phaneuf: Feeding the Hungry with Music and Heart in Bridgewater
Jack Phaneuf, a dedicated local resident, has seen about town combining his love of music with his passion for helping others. He was outside the 7-Eleven in Winter Place, playing his guitar and raising funds to support two crucial local food pantries: the Bridgewater Food Pantry at UCC Church and the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
Jack set up a donation station at this location on August 21 as reported on the FB Residents Group. All proceeds were equally split between these two vital services. Many folks recognized Jack from his teaching days, town activities or Community Dance. Jack’s efforts provided much-needed financial support to the food pantries and create a sense of community spirit and togetherness. His initiative serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting one another, especially in times of need.
Jack sets up his stand when time and weather conditions allow 3 -6 pm on Mondays or Tuesdays in Winter Place and then at Bernier's on Fridays. If you're lucky enough to catch him, stop by and say say "hi."

Changes
“It’s only after you’ve stepped outside your comfort zone that you begin to change, grow, and transform.” ~Roy T. Bennett
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” ~ Rumi
“The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open. Do it. Throw yourself.” ~ C. JoyBell C.
Love can change a person the way a parent can change a baby- awkwardly, and often with a great deal of mess.”~ Lemony Snicket
