Flash Flood at Woodlands Campus
Dear Friends, on August 23rd at our Woodlands campus, the rain fell in torrents and did not relent. While our team was putting the finishing touches on an evangelistic marriage dinner for 80 people, the land was suddenly covered by three feet of water in just minutes.
We had only enough time to get to shelter inside one of our maritime containers—unable to cross the flooded parking lot to the safety of our new building. Then came a thunderous crash: the back wall of our property gave way, carrying with it our bathrooms, storage shed, and our water and electric installations.
By God’s mercy, the floodwaters never reached our new building. They did, however, pour into one of the containers still serving as classrooms and nursery space for our children.
In moments like these, you sometimes act without thinking. I waded into the rushing water, wondering if I could do anything to stop it—only to realize it was not a great idea. Thankfully I was still far from the wall when it was swept away.
Through it all, we were reminded once again that storms will come—but God is faithful, and His hand of protection never leaves us.
