We are excited to host our upcoming Spring Open House on March 17th and welcome prospective families to campus. If you know a student who would thrive at Winston, please consider sharing this opportunity to experience our community in action.

Your student is invited to the 2026 Winston Summer School, designed to strengthen academic skills, support credit recovery and attendance, and keep students connected to the Winston community.

Students will engage in core classes and electives to build critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills with support from our dedicated faculty and staff.

They will also enjoy community events and activities, including school-wide BBQs, outdoor games, collaborative projects, and optional after school activities.

Please enroll by April 10, 2026. Reach out to Mr. Jacobsen with any questions.

Exploring Space with Dr. Susan Kurtik

Last week, Winston students had the incredible opportunity to meet Dr. Susan Kurtik, a former NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory engineer who helped land the Curiosity Rover on Mars. Dr. Kurtik, who lives in nearby Encinitas, shared stories from her 26-year career exploring deep space missions and inspired students with powerful lessons about perseverance and discovery.

During her presentation, she walked students through the wonders of our solar system—from the Sun and Moon to the farthest planets—and brought science to life through videos, 3-D models, and hands-on demonstrations. Students even reenacted the movement of the planets and took home NASA stickers and keepsakes to commemorate their journey “beyond Earth.”

Perhaps most memorable was Dr. Kurtik’s reminder to never, never give up—a message that beautifully echoes Winston’s own school motto. Her visit sparked curiosity, imagination, and confidence in every student who now knows that their dreams, like space itself, have no limits.

Mental health awareness and treatment for our adolescents is a critical issue for parents and schools. In an effort to share important and helpful resources, Winston School has partnered with the Didi Hirsch Suicide Prevention Center to provide a caring and informative educational opportunity for parents. This 90-minute Zoom presentation will provide parents with an overview of suicide and ways in which to prevent it in our adolescent children. Here is the Zoom Link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/7668352735.

Please consider giving what feels meaningful to you today.

As we wrap up another thrilling basketball season, we want to congratulate our young athletes for their energy, teamwork, and dedication on the court. With the season coming to a close, our students can now look ahead to an exciting softball season filled with new goals, challenges, and opportunities to shine. We can’t wait to see their continued growth and sportsmanship in the months ahead!
