Winter Weather Safety Tips

Here some important reminders about the 4 Ps of winter weather safety: People, Pets, Pipes, and Plants.

For PEOPLE - Limit your time outdoors to prevent hypothermia; dress in layers when you must go outdoors; check on your neighbors, especially the elderly, children and those with special needs.

For PETS - Bring pets indoors, providing them with warm shelter and unfrozen water; limit their time outdoors; consider a sweater for short-haired dogs.

For PIPES - Insulate or cover exposed pipes and faucets; drip faucets inside your home to prevent freezing; locate your main water shutoff valve before you need it. For water utility emergencies in Sunnyvale, call (972) 251-0567.

For PLANTS - Cover outdoor plants or move potted or sensitive plants indoors.
