Many of you are familiar with the tool of affirmations: making a positive statement about something you desire, and wording it in the present tense as if it is already true.
Examples:
I am enjoying great prosperity.
My life is wonderful and fulfilling.
I have the relationship of my dreams and we are so happy together.
My body is healthy, vital, vibrant and energized.
But sometimes, when you are not enjoying something you want, you can create affirmations to help you on the journey toward what you desire. Affirmations can help you pivot from where you are now toward where you want to be.
Affirmations don’t always reflect the final destination you desire on a subject. Sometimes, affirmations can be vibrational stepping stones. For instance, if you are experiencing a lack of something, you might want to move to having enough, then having more than enough, then experiencing abundant flow.
While recognizing the statement of affirmation as something you desire, it is important that the words do not trigger a vibration of lack, or absence, of what you want in the present moment. While the statement may seem aspirational, it is important to feel the vibrational truth of it as you affirm it.
For instance, if you are feeling lack of health, you might want to start with:
I am making progress on my journey toward experiencing great health in my body.
I am feeling better with every passing day.
I am thankful for this amazing body that serves me so well.
I am excited to come back into alignment with well-being.
The affirmations may change as you move further along your path…as you make progress in reaching your new frequency.
Affirmations can also help you to change your beliefs. For instance, if you grew up in a family that taught you a certain belief you no longer want to practice, then you can create an affirmation about what you now choose to believe.
Maybe your family believed that rich people can’t be trusted. Thus, the implication is that it’s not good to be rich. And perhaps you adopted that belief, and today have issues with prosperity.
You can create an affirmation that reflects what you choose to believe today. Ask yourself what you want to believe – what belief you choose to practice now.
Just remember that you want to tip the scale with the amount of attention you give your affirmed belief. For instance, if you practice thoughts of shortage 50 times a day – and only say your affirmation 3 times -- then the frequency of shortage is still dominant. So you want to intentionally practice your new belief.
You want your thoughts to be much more on the frequency of what you want, and significantly less on what you don’t want. The new affirmation represents a new frequency, and is like a mental (and vibrational) muscle you need to develop.
You may want to write the affirmation down multiple places to see it and repeat it. You may want to put it on the mirror and say it to yourself, looking into your eyes.
You may want to record it on your phone. Or make it into a song to sing. Or set your alarm multiple times during the day to remind you to practice your affirmation.
You may want to create an association with the affirmation. For instance, “Every time I see a bird today, I am going to practice my affirmation.” (And then watch the universe bring you a multitude of birds!)
What you experience in your life is a reflection of what you believe and where you direct your attention.
When you’re not where you want to be with an aspect of your life, you have the power to pivot and start focusing on what you desire. You are a powerful creator. Start living more and more of the joyful, satisfying life you came to enjoy.
