Our Vision Statement:

We are a welcoming community FIRST UNITED in proclaiming FAITH in Jesus Christ, sharing HOPE for the future, and inspiring LOVE of our neighbors.

A Flame Worth Passing On

Keeping our faith alive, sharing God's promises, and staying ready for Christ.

"Heavenly Father, Thank you for the gift of faith and for the generation who have shared Your love, wisdom, and promises with us. Help us never take that gift for granted. Lord, keep the fire of Your Spirit burning within us. When our faith grows dim, renew our hearts. When life becomes distracting or difficult, remind us to keep our lamps filled with Your truth, Your love, and Your grace. Help us to be faithful examples to those who come after us. May our children, grandchildren, and future generations hear the stories of Your goodness through our words and see Your love through our actions. Teach us not to take tomorrow for granted, but to live each day with watchful hearts, strong faith, and a willingness to serve You. May we never allow the light You have placed within us to grow dark. Let our faith be a flame that inspires others, our lives a testimony of Your goodness, and our love a light that continues to shine from one generation to the next. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen."

Pastors In The Gathering Area

Our monthly Pastors in the Gathering Area event is TODAY, (11/5) at 10 am. Pastors Luke & Meggan will be available to meet with church friends and spend some time with you. This is a special time planned on the first Thursday of each month.

Breakfast at FUPC

This Sunday, there will be breakfast sandwiches before worship starting at 8:15 am. It will be a first come, first serve basis. Free will offering or donations are excepted.

Sunday Worship Service

Faith is a gift meant to be nurtured, lived, and passed from one generation to the next. Join us for worship this Sunday as we read Psalm 78:1-7 and Matthew 25:1-13. Through the scriptures, we are reminded to share the stories for God's faithfulness, remain watchful in our walk with Christ, and keep the light of faith burning brightly in our hearts and in the world around us.

Nursery

Each Sunday the church Nursery is open and staffed with volunteers during worship.

Sunday School & Youth Group

All ages are welcome on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am for Sunday School. On Sunday evenings, the Youth Group meets from 6-8 pm in the Youth Room.

Adult Sunday School: Worship and Witness

Following worship, we will gather at 10:30 am in the K-Lounge for a new series, "Worship and Witness."

Come join the conversation, bring your questions, and discover how Sunday worship can make a difference in our everyday lives. All are welcome!

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee has begun their work to fill the slate for Ruling Elders and Deacons for the class of 2030. These individuals will begin their terms in January of 2027. Please pray for them as they go about this important task as well as pray for those individuals whom God is calling to serve. If you have any questions or people you feel would be a good fit, please reach out to Amy Cassidy, Anne Ferron, Jim France, Kira Hanson, Annette Kinchen, or Pastors Luke and Meggan.

2026-2027 Building House Together Update

The Stewardship Ministry and Session would like to express gratitude to all who have already made a financial commitment to help "Build God's House Together" by turning in their 2027 pledge. We are encouraged to report we are trending towards both our financial (85% of goal) and participation (80% of goal of 120 pledges) goals. Your Session needs and uses our pledge totals to confidently determine, plan and fund next year's worship, music, Christian education, staff & office, building & grounds, and connecting with our congregation and community. Every pledge makes a difference on how we are able to "Build God's House Together" next year and in the future. If you have not pledged before or have not turned in your pledge as of yet, we encourage you to make a financial commitment and bring your pledge to the next Sunday worship or mail it to the office.

Thank you for your commitment to First United Stewardship Ministry.

The History of Christmas

Ever wonder why Christmas is December 25th, why we bring a pine tree into our house, why stockings hang on the fireplace or why cookies are devoured? Did you know when and why Christmas was cancelled? What's the story behind our favorite Christmas Carols? Dawn Picard answers these questions and shares how Christmas traditions came to be. Bring an ornament, a picture, a card or a memory and share your own Christmas traditions with the group.

Pastors Book Club

The Pastor's Book Study Group will begin in the new year by reading Home, the acclaimed novel by Marilynne Robinson. Set in the small Iowa town of Gilead, the novel explores family, faith, forgiveness, and the complicated paths that lead us home. Through the lives of the Boughton family, Robinson invites readers to reflect on grace, human frailty, and the possibility of reconciliation. Join us on Monday, January 11, at 6:30 pm in the K-Lounge at First United Presbyterian Church for a thoughtful conversation about his beautifully written novel and its enduring questions about faith, family, and the meaning of home. All are welcome!

New Class: Essentials of Reformed Systematic Theology

Join Pastor Luke for a new yearlong study of Reformed Systematic Theology by Joel R. Beeke and Paul M. Smalley, beginning Monday, January 4. The class will meet weekly on Mondays from 9:30 am to 11:00 am in the K-Lounge at First United Presbyterian Church. Over the course of 50 weeks, participants will work through this substantial resource by reading approximately 18 pages per week and gathering for discussion and learning. The book retails for approximately $35 and is available through Walmart.com and other booksellers. All are welcome, especially those who want to deepen their understanding of Christian theology and discover how the various teachings of the Christian faith fit together into a coherent whole. Whether you are new to theology or looking to deepen your theological understanding, this class offers an opportunity to grow in knowledge, faith, and discipleship. If you are interested and have questions, feel free to contact Pastor Luke.
