Movie Night!

Friday, March 20 at 7:00 p.m. in Henry Young Fellowship Hall

Come join us for an evening at the movies as we delve into "No Other Land", a hard-hitting, award-winning documentary focusing on the Palestinian experience. A true must see!

Palestinian activist Basel Adra documents the destruction of his community in Masafer Yatta under Israeli occupation. He forms an unlikely alliance with Israeli journalist Yuval. For years, they fight against mass expulsion--forging a complex bond haunted by the extreme inequality between them.

Mark Your Calendar: Craig Kaviar's "Healing the Earth" Sculpture at CHPC
Sunday, March 22nd at 2:00 p.m. is the official dedication of the sculpture. Everyone is encouraged to attend. Invite your family, friends, and neighbors. There will be a reception in Henry Young Hall in the back building following the dedication. We hope to have media coverage. Information will be available about CHPC’s mission, activities, and other organizations associated with us,
That morning, at 11 a.m., worship that day will be a Contemplative Service of Healing and Hope led by Spirit of Sophia and CHPC. After worship, you may want to stay and help to set up for the dedication. Or you can return to the church for the 2 p.m. dedication.

Renowned local blacksmith/sculptor Craig A. Kaviar created the art piece from parts of guns chopped up at safe-disposal events sponsored by Guns to Gardens Louisville and metal tools donated by members of the congregation. The sculpture symbolizes the congregation’s commitment to promoting peace, justice, and sustainability.

How do we pray? How could I pray? How do I cultivate a more prayerful life?

During Lent on each Sunday morning (except Palm Sunday) at 9:30 am, we will gather to talk about prayer . . . and to pray. Phil Lloyd-Sidle will facilitate this time in which we share from our lives, look at different kinds of prayer, and devote some time to praying. Over the five weeks we look forward to a generative time together that hopefully will help us on our Lenten journeys and lives. Our next gathering is this Sunday, March 15, 2026, meeting in the Gathering Room. Coffee, tea, and light goodies will be provided. Open to all, of course!

Please come and join us for Fun and Games!

How would you like to spend Tuesday afternoons surrounded by a group of friends having a great time playing games and just enjoying life? We will host various game opportunities (Mahjong, Hand and Foot, Bunco). Or you can bring your own game to share. All are welcome!

Our next meet-up is Tuesday, March 17 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Prayer Group for the Middle East

Feel free to join us Thursdays on Zoom, in-person, or both. This group has enabled such support for one another as we all struggle to cope with the tragedies in the Middle East and the on and off cease fires and prisoner releases. The first Thursday of each month the group will meet in person. Please reach out to Soni for locations.

We would be grateful to have others join us. Email Soni at soni.castleberry@gmail.com to get the Zoom link and be added to the group email list for regular communication.

Did You Know?

What Presbyterians Believe...

from PC(USA) Book of Confessions:

"Dealing with the Differences" (part 1 of 3)

Presbyterians who expect one right answer to every theological and ethical question are especially confused and deeply disturbed by these differences. (“What then does our church believe?”) But the differences also puzzle others who understand that there is room for variety within the fundamental unity of the church. It is therefore important that agreement be reached on some guidelines for dealing with divergences among the confessions. Following are some suggestions based on the theology of the confessions themselves:

a. Differences should not be exaggerated but should be understood and evaluated in light of the Christological and Trinitarian faith shared in common by all the confessions.

b. Differences should be judged central or peripheral, critical or relatively unimportant, in light of the confessions’ common Christological and Trinitarian faith, and in consideration of the most pressing problems and needs that confront the church in our time.

c. Where there are conflicts, decision in favor of one or another alternative—or in favor of a totally new alternative—should be sought by subjection of all confessional statements to possible correction in light of fresh reading of Scripture.
