Enhancing the lives of women and youth in our community

and around the world. Rise and Shine with us on Thursday mornings!

President Paula opened today's business meeting.

Sunshine

  • Continues for our Wendy. You are a warrior, and we are all here for you.
  • For Shirley Barr and family as her husband Jim is undergoing surgery for another lung infection
  • For Laurie Kemper whos Mother passed.
  • For Carla who has recently been diagnosed with extensive cancer
  • For Paula's daughter-in-law and the safe delivery of her first grandchild.

Some highlights of our business meeting this morning:

Thank you notes were received from STHS Grad Night Committee, Camp Buck participants, Aliana McLey, a scholarship winner, and the El Dorado Foundation.

We are sponsoring, along with the morning club, the SNR District 5 "Fall Into Service" meeting on Sept. 19 and 20, 2025. It will be held at Lakeland Village with a social gathering on Friday night at Idle Hour. Registration is $40 per person and includes appetizers on Friday and lunch on Saturday. Our club will be responsible for providing a continental breakfast on Saturday morning. Paula has assembled a team to help her with the details of the meeting--Jeanne, Lisa C., Cookie, Nancy, Lydia and Shelly. For more information, and to register, click here.

A new committee has been formed for Community Outreach. this committee will help plan our participation in Community Events such as the 4th of July parade, Earth Day event and others.

Laurie F. has organized a signup for those who are willing to help get our Zoom up and running for each meeting. She will give a training for those who are interested. You can sign up here for this training. This link will also take you to all the other committees which keep our club running.

The membership voted to take advantage of an opportunity to run a concession booth at the Tahoe Blue Events Center. Paula will apply and we will sign up for one event and then re-evaluate the work vs. reward.

Paula announced that the Celebrity Golf check has arrived and we made $11,253 plus $400 in tips. Discussion revolved around getting more volunteers earlier in the season so that if people cancel at the last minute, we would still have adequate staff to cover the booths. Cookie offered to deliver tickets after the tournament starts to last minute volunteers.

Committee Reports:

  • All Committee budgets are due to Lois or Andie by September 22.
  • Laurie F. has been working on the website and asks that all committee chairs check their descriptions and pictures to ensure accuracy.
  • HWHW will be volunteering at Bread and Broth on Sept. 15 and Oct. 20. Contact Kim V. to participate.
  • We need more people to help register attendance for the morning meeting. To volunteer, sign up for the Attendance/Hospitality/AV committee here.
  • Paula will email the survey results to the membership

SITS Retreat

We were excited to welcome to our membership, Elizabeth Stork. Elizabeth has been the Chief Administrative Officer and head of Human resources for Barton Hospital for eight years. She and her husband have a grown son and are the proud parents of a Husky rescue dog. Elizabeth brings energy and new perspectives to our club.

On Saturday we enjoyed a few hours of food, fellowship and future planning at the home of Cookie Rork. This was a time of reflection for what we were proud of and planning for next year's projects. Committee chairs reviewed their activities and members are encouraged to sign up here for the committees of their choice. https://signup.com/go/EFfmObB. We want to thank Shelly and Wendy for leading the meeting, Cookie for hosting, all the members for their input, and especially President Paula for her inspirational leading in the coming year.
