| | Celebrating Affordable Housing Month! | | |
May is Affordable Housing Month! This month we recognize that safe, stable housing is the foundation for health, dignity, and independence. At Fellowship Square, this mission comes to life every day as we serve older adults living on limited incomes, many surviving on $25,000 or less per year. Affordable housing is more than a place to live; it is a pathway to connection, wellness, and peace of mind.
The need for affordable housing in the DC Metro area continues to grow especially for seniors. And the importance of community support is imperative now more than ever. Our organization is working to expand our available affordable housing portfolio. Join us in raising awareness and advocating for solutions that ensure every senior has a place to call home.

Coming Soon: The Dogwood Project
Fellowship Square is working to bring more affordable housing to the DC Metro area. The Dogwood Farm Station Apartments in Loudoun County, VA will be a thoughtfully designed, five-story building that delivers 72 high-quality, fully affordable homes for seniors aged 62 and older. This project was recently supported by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors with $7 million in funding. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting new affordable housing opportunity!

The monthly calendars at Fellowship Square properties are filled with a multitude of physical activities, health programs, arts and crafts, music and dance ensembles, spiritual connections, games, parties and special events. We work hard to deliver a high level of engagement to the 850 residents and their families to prevent one of the most debilitating parts of growing old – loneliness and isolation.
A study from Brunel University of London shows that loneliness and social isolation are one of the biggest determining factors leading to Alzheimer’s Disease.
The Brunel University study reported “loneliness plays [a] significant role in Alzheimer’s in women. The majority of Fellowship House residents are females, typically single (widowed or divorced) with an average age of 77. While many of our female residents are fully independent, in good health, and enjoy a busy social schedule, some are in need of support. We don’t want any of our residents to fall through the cracks and feel forgotten. We ensure that no residents feel left out and welcome all to monthly programs and events.
Please take a minute to learn more about Fellowship Square and how you can get involved to support those who struggle to make ends meet.
In gratitude,
