AI in Your Research? Say So

The Library has highlighted several of its AI tools over the past few newsletters. Transparency about the use of such research assistants and other generative AI tools helps maintain research integrity and allows readers to understand how AI contributed. Requirements for citing or disclosing AI use can vary by publisher and journal, so authors should review the applicable policies before submitting a manuscript.

For guidance on responsible AI use, citation, and disclosure, consult the Citing and Disclosing AI and AI and Publishing Guidelines sections of the Library’s AI Guide.

Join in the Celebration!

Protect Your Research with LibKey Nomad Problematic Publisher

LibKey Nomad now offers a new Problematic Publishers feature to help researchers make more informed decisions about the journals and publishers they encounter online. When users visit a publisher’s website or find an article associated with a publisher that has identified concerns, LibKey Nomad displays an alert and explains issues related to areas such as peer review, editorial oversight, publication fees, open-access rights, or publisher transparency. The alert does not prevent access to the content; instead, it provides helpful context so researchers can evaluate the publication carefully before reading, citing, or submitting their work.

OMOT Winners Announced and Literary and Visual entries

The winners of the visual and literary works are available at the On My Own Time website. The online exhibit and literary entries are still available for viewing at the website..

Wiley APC Cap reached

No more articles remain in the Wiley article cap for the 2026 calendar year. This means UTSW researchers wishing to publish open access in Wiley journals in 2026 must cover the article processing charges themselves or through other funding.

Negotiations have begun on what the Wiley agreement will look like going forward, so stay tuned.

To explore our 23 other transformative agreements, check out our APCs Guide or use our new APC Journal Search @ UTSW database (requires UT Southwestern login).

Collecting UTSW’s historical records, in digital or physical format, ensures that they can be preserved and made accessible to researchers in the future. If you or your department has items that might be related to the history of UTSW, please reach out to archives@utsouthwestern.edu.
