THIS SUNDAY

Sunday, March 8, 2026

Join us this second Sunday in March for the third Sunday of Lent as we continue our exploration of the Gospel of John's version of the events in Jesus' life leading up to the Last Supper and Passion. This week, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman while resting at Jacob's well ("like the woman at the well, I was searching..."). Karen Zotta and the handbell choir will present a beautiful hymn arrangement and Julie Smith and the Sunday School team will continue to guide our children through this Lenten journey.

Our two readings this Sunday are:

Exodus 17: 1 - 7

John 4: 5 - 14

Everyone is always welcome to worship here at Crossroads, and when we take Communion, everyone is always welcome at the Lord's table. So please tell your friends, coworkers or neighbors who may be looking for a church home about us! We worship every week in our sanctuary at 10:00 am.

Palm Sunday

The Sunday of the Passion

Sunday, March 29, 2026

Join us on Sunday, March 29 for this very special Palm Sunday/Passion service where we will follow the story of Jesus from his triumphant arrival into Jerusalem all the way through to the Last Supper and the Passion.

We will take Communion together at the same moment in the Passion that Jesus and his disciples did, and then we will end in solemn silence as Jesus is crucified. This unique experience will take the place of our Maundy Thursday service.

This is From the Archives, where we present something from our extensive collection of archival photos, records and all manner of materials dating back to when the church was First Methodist Episcopal, to First Methodist, to Church of the Savior, to St. Paul's to Crossroads.

This week's archives entry is a picture and blurb from the church's newsletter ("The First Methodist") about a staff meeting that took page in 1952.

The way churches work often changes very little. In this staff meeting in 1952 (with Bob Morrison in the middle, now living in his 100th year), the staff got together in the Pastor's study to plan out the coming weeks and months in the life of the church. No doubt the themes of the lectionary and the liturgical year were discussed, along with plans for the choirs and the Sunday school programs.

Very recently, the current Director of music ministries, organist and Pastor of this church all got together and talked about the coming weeks and months in the life of the church. This more recent staff meeting also happened in the very same room as the one which took place in 1952.

At this more recent meeting, the remainder of Lent and the coming Easter and Pentecost were discussed. The general life of the church was talked about and ideas were bandied back and forth about worship and music.

There was one key difference between the staff meeting which took place in 2026 and the one which happened in 1952 - in 2026, some delicious hummus was also enjoyed.
