Giving Tree
Happy Holidays! My name is Jaime Fann and my daughter Taylor and I will be leading the Giving Tree this year. We are very excited to help our church support families in need in our community by providing some Christmas Cheer. We will be hosting our annual Advent Giving Tree online.
Starting this weekend, we will have two trees with ornaments providing options with a QR code to the signup page for family gifts or ornaments that have the option to donate money for food or gifts that can be turned into the Church office or the collection baskets each Sunday. One tree will be in the main church entrance and the second tree will be in the ramp entrance.
We are again using SignUp.com for our Giving Tree ornaments and volunteers. You can access it here: Giving Tree Link or by scanning the QR Code below.
Sign up online to choose your "ornament." If you do not have access to the internet or need help, you can call the Parish Office and our staff will help you sign up and tell you what is needed.
For added safety and convenience, you can even shop online for your "ornament" and have the gifts shipped directly to the Parish Office. No need to get out to go to the store or even drop off the gifts. You will need to note on the shipment what the gift is for, or email parish@saintpeterjc.org with information about your shipment and who the gift is for, so that we can properly mark the gifts as they come in.
Volunteers will be needed to help wrap gifts that are shipped in and bought if not provided, collect presents after masses, contact families for pick up times, and help load gifts the night of family pick up. Please note your desire to help with this ministry on your Parish Stewardship Commitment Form!
All gifts are due at the Parish Office by Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Please feel free to drop off gifts under the trees after mass. Thank you for helping us bring joy to families during this incredible holiday season!

CONTINUING TRAINING, BACKGROUND REPORTS, AND FAMILY CARE SAFETY REGISTRY FORM
Dioceses have safe environment policies to ensure the safety and well-being of children, vulnerable adults, and young people entrusted to their care. This is a gentle reminder of some of the requirements of the safe environment policies for the Diocese of Jefferson City.
Safe Environment Policy 1.1 requires all adult employees, priests, deacons, religious brothers and sisters, seminarians, and deacon candidates to complete continuing training. Generally, refresher training is assigned every three (3) years. This training is done by completing the assigned online training modules in your VIRTUS account. You should receive an email from VIRTUS when new training is assigned. Please note that the notice will be sent to the email address you put on your VIRTUS account. The diocese background screening process with its vendor and the State of Missouri is ever-evolving so that we maintain a safe work environment. Please remember that an arrest or conviction does not necessarily impact your employment. Our Safe Environment policy is to re-screen employees on a periodic basis. The Selection.com background check does this every three (3) months, though employees are not notified. The Diocese will re-screen the MO Family Care Safety Registry every two years. This process started in 2024. We are coming up on the bulk of registration renewals now, and so many employees will be receiving an email with the screening results. The email is legitimate if it comes from FCSR@HEALTH.MO.GOV . You have the right and opportunity to review any criminal records with the state this way.
LOCAL SAFE ENVIRONMENT COORDINATORS: Monitoring the compliance of parish and school employees and volunteers is done at the local level. The pastor or principal should appoint someone to be the local coordinator. We recommend that you also appoint an alternate local coordinator. Issues and questions tend to arise when the primary point of contact is out of the office. The Safe Environment Office will give the local administrators administrative access to the VIRTUS database. This will allow the local coordinators to check the compliance of individuals. The local coordinators can also run a compliance report for the entire location. If you have any questions, please Regina E.Quinn, safeenvironment@diojeffcity.org , or Alicia Isdes, aisdes@diojeffcity.org .

Bark for Schools+ Explained!
Have you ever wondered what our school is doing to keep your child safe online? We have a few layers of protection in place on our network which includes filtering at the top level (where the internet comes into the building), fine tuned filters before it goes out on our network and filtering at the user level on their chromebooks and other devices. If your child is in our school building, and even at home sometimes, we are doing everything we can to protect their online experience. Here's how we use our device filtering system:
Our school uses Bark for Schools+ to help keep students safe when they use their school-issued email accounts and Chromebooks. Bark integrates directly with our Google Workspace for Education system through the Google Admin Console, which means it automatically applies monitoring to every student account—no extra apps or setup needed on their end.
Whenever a student signs into Google Chrome using their school email address (even at home or on a personal device), Bark’s monitoring automatically activates in the background. It reviews activity tied to that account, such as Google Docs, Gmail, Drive, and web searches made while the student is signed in. This ensures consistent protection and visibility no matter where a student is working or which device they use.
Importantly, Bark for Schools+ only monitors activity done through the school email account. It does not monitor personal email addresses, private accounts, or unrelated web use on a home computer. If a student signs out of their school account or uses a personal browser profile, Bark is not active.
Behind the scenes, Bark’s AI scans for signs of potential concerns such as bullying, self-harm, violence, or inappropriate content. When something potentially concerning is detected, an alert is securely sent to designated school staff. Staff members review each alert to determine if action or follow-up is needed. Sometimes alerts are investigated and resolved quickly; other times they are noted and archived if they don’t represent a true issue.
By combining content filtering, AI detection, and human review, Bark for Schools+ helps us maintain a safe digital learning environment while still respecting each student’s privacy. It’s an extra layer of protection designed to catch problems early and keep our students safe—both at school and at home—whenever they’re using their school account.

After Care News
Please remember to check the lost and found shelf for any coats, jackets, fleece, or other items your child may be missing.
As you may have heard from your student, ASC has entered a drawing contest that could win us $1,000. The theme is “Perfect Pet”, and they were able to draw and color a pet (real or imagined) of their choice. The contest promoters, Young Artists, are looking for drawings to add to a book series. If any of our students are chosen, we get a free book. If they end up on the cover of a book, they also get a goodie bag. Here’s another of our favorites.

If you need to reach ASC, please email, Betsy Bartow at bbartow@stpeterjc.org or
call (573) 636-8922 ext.129.
