Current Court Availability

The long weekend is almost here and I know people will descend upon Juniper to tune up their tennis games. All three courts will be in play for the long weekend (May 21-23). Shortly thereafter, Court 2 will be painted and Court 3 will be resurfaced to deal with the "pitting" problem that grew worse over the winter. Courts 2 and 3 should be playable by June 30 at the latest.

From May 20 forward, please use www.slyc.tennisbookings.com to book a court if you want to play tennis at Juniper. Priority will be given to those who have booked a court versus those that have shown up without a booking.

To book a court, you need to have selected Tennis as part of your SLYC membership. If you not yet purchased your 2022 SLYC membership, click on the big orange button at the top of this newsletter. Please note that if you're a new Tennis & Pickleball member, allow for up to two business days to activate your account.

Registration + Bookings

Registration for all clinics, lessons and free-court play will open at 8:00 AM, one week in advance. For example, if you want to register your child for a lesson on July 8 at 1:00 PM, you can log into www.slyc.tennisbookings.com on July 1 at 8:00 AM to book the lesson. If you want to register for Ladies Drills on July 14 at 5:00 PM, the sign-up will open at 8:00 AM on July 7.

Program Start Dates

Full programming will officially start on Monday, July 4. Therefore, registration for sessions that day will open on Monday, June 27. A complete schedule of all Tennis programs will be available in mid-June — we will send this information via email to all members and post it on www.slyc.ca.

There will be a Ladies Clinic at 4:00 PM, 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM on Thursday, June 30, and, with the holiday falling on July 1, the first Men's Clinic of the season will be on Sunday, July 3 at 4:00 PM, 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Registration for all of these clinic slots will open one week in advance at 8:00 AM.

I look forward to seeing you on the courts!

Warm regards,

Andrew Rush
Director of Tennis & Pickleball

Two Great Ways to Get Involved

If you're looking for a way to give back to a community that gives us all so much, here are two opportunities for your consideration:

1. Get social: Here's your chance to put your own stamp on a signature social event! We're looking for volunteers to take charge of a handful of events this summer, including the Dinner Dance, which is always a highlight. Or maybe you have an idea for a new event? Either way, we'd love to hear from you — please email us at slycinfo@gmail.com.

2. Put the "fun" in fundraising: The annual SLYC golf tournament is huge fun for golfers and non-golfers alike. As a committee member, you'll help with signing up our sponsors and coordinating the silent auction. It's a great way to meet new people and contribute to our amazing community. Please email David Newton at dcnewton60@gmail.com for more information or to put your name forward.
Stay safe.
