Join Three Authors of the HOLD THE LINE Activist Handbook
In a discussion on the potential for a political coup in January, and what WILPF members can do to prepare.
Kifah Shah will be our featured guest, with Hardy Merriman and Ankur Asthana joining us as well. These three experienced activists, strategists and writers have been thinking about the unthinkable, and they encourage us to think about it with them. They have used their experiences living and organizing in autocratic countries to project how we might best prepare for peaceful street actions across the US.
Hardy Merriman, Ankur Asthana, Marium Navid, and Kifah Shah wrote a detailed plan for activists in case of a coup attempt after the Nov. 3rd Presidential Election. They encourage us to begin NOW to plan for whatever may occur. HOLD THE LINE: A Guide To Defending Democracy offers important organizing strategy, including agendas for local meetings, what kinds of local connections to make before the election, how to identify infiltrators, and how to keep protests and demonstrations peaceful. This is solidarity planning in the WILPF tradition, that seeks to create relationship among activists, for committed sustained peaceful dissent.
