June 2024

A Joyful June Ahead

June is a time to celebrate milestones and achievements, from the joyous transition from pre-k to kindergarten to the exciting leap from college to career. It's a season to create cherished family memories and uphold treasured traditions.

With summer comes warmer days and nights, providing more opportunities to spend quality time with family and friends. I love to take advantage of the longer daylight and take my dog for an evening walk followed by a late dinner.

June 16th is Father's Day! Remember to take some time and show the dad in your life how much you love and appreciate them. Our family celebrates Father's Day with a round of golf and a family BBQ at home. What are your Father's Day traditions? Share them with us on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn!

This June, The Children's Cabinet is especially proud to celebrate our Redfield Academy high school graduates! These remarkable students have faced challenges with determination and perseverance, and we’re excited to honor their achievements in a special ceremony.

We are also celebrating our littlest clients at our HIPPY graduation! We are so excited for these children and their families as they head to Kindergarten ready for the next step in their education.

Reno Rodeo 50/50 Raffle

Join us at the Reno Rodeo on Saturday, June 29th!

Half of the proceeds from the Reno Rodeo 50/50 Raffle on June 29th will benefit The Children's Cabinet to support our wraparound programs and services.

Look for the 50/50 Raffle volunteers throughout the night, buy your raffle tickets, and help keep children safe and families together.

Can't make it on the 29th? 50/50 raffle tickets can be purchased online! Keep an eye out for an email from us on the 29th. You can also find the link posted to our social media that day.

The Children’s Cabinet’s Redfield Academy is dedicated to providing support for youth who may be struggling in high school and need a more individualized approach. The Redfield Academy is available for Washoe County students at risk of dropping out of high school. These students have the opportunity to recover credits and work toward graduation. Our students can choose to return to a traditional school setting or graduate with a traditional diploma from Redfield Academy.

Are you a parent or caregiver who struggles to connect with your teen? Join us for "Connect With Your Teen", a one-hour class to help you better understand your teen's mindset, recognize and talk about your teen's skills and talents, and grow your teen's connections and achievements.

Summer Activities in Nevada

As we welcome Summer, we look forward to all of the exciting events and activities the season brings to Nevada. Check out some family fun activities going on in your area:

Northern Nevada

Food Truck Fridays: Every Friday at Idlewild Park kicking off on June 7th features delicious food trucks from around town.
Reno Rodeo: June 20-29 at the Livestock Events Center, this family-friendly event is always a blast.

Southern Nevada

Las Vegas Restaurant Week: June 3-14, visit participating restaurants across the valley to benefit Three Square Food Bank! This is a fun way to try new restaurants and support the community.
