The Crucifixion (1558) by Titian

Month of the Most Precious Blood

In the Catholic Church, the month of July is traditionally dedicated to the Most Precious Blood. This devotion focuses on honoring and contemplating the saving power of the blood shed by Christ on the Cross for the redemption of humanity. It is a time to reflect on the significance and profound meaning of His sacrifice. The Most Precious Blood is a reminder of God's immense love, inviting us to live as Christ's disciples, sharing His forgiveness.

"Christ had the blood with which to redeem us. That was why He took on flesh and blood: in order to have the blood to shed for our redemption... The blood of Christ is salvation to him who desires it, punishment to him who does not desire it" (St Augustine of Hippo, Sermon 31 [344]).
