Dear St. Michael-St. Gabriel Families and Friends,
This week our office staff has been busy printing and mailing Quarter 1 report cards. Those report cards will contain some ILEARN Checkpoint results, Title I progress reports, and a few Academic Probation letters. If you do not receive your child’s report card by the end of next week, please reach out to us so that we can confirm your mailing address.
Next week is rather short, as we begin Fall Break on Thursday, October 22nd. Students will return on Tuesday, October 27th. When we return from Fall Break, we will be kicking off our Canned Food Drive. This campaign will last until November 5th. All food donations will be given to the St. Vincent de Paul Society to help with their endeavors to help other families in need.
We want to thank everyone who helped with our Hispanic Heritage Celebration this week! We love coming together as a community to celebrate our cultures.

Queridos Padres y Amigos de San Miguel-San Gabriel,
Esta semana, el personal de nuestra oficina ha estado ocupado imprimiendo y enviando por correo las boletas de calificaciones del primer trimestre. Esos boletines de calificaciones incluirán algunos resultados de los puntos de control de ILEARN, informes de progreso del Titulo I y algunas cartas de período de prueba académico. Si no recibe la boleta de calificaciones de su hijo para finales de la próxima semana, por favor comuníquese con nosotros para que podamos confirmar su dirección postal.
La próxima semana será más corta de lo habitual, ya que el jueves 22 de octubre comienzan las vacaciones de otoño. Los estudiantes regresarán a clases el martes 27 de octubre. Cuando regresemos de las vacaciones de otoño, iniciaremos nuestra campaña de recaudación de alimentos enlatados. Esta campaña durará hasta el 5 de noviembre. Todas las donaciones de alimentos se entregarán a la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl para apoyar la iniciativa de ayudar a las familias necesitadas.
Queremos agradecer a todos los que asistieron a la Celebración de la Herencia Hispana esta semana. Nos encanta ver la unión de la comunidad para celebrar nuestras culturas.

If your student was absent for our original picture day, or if you would like his or her picture retaken, Strawbridge will be back on October 29th to take pictures.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR - SET UP E-WALLET
Our Fall Book Fair will run from November 9th-13th, and the easiest way for your child to shop is for you to set up an electronic wallet (e-wallet) for the Book Fair. This way you can control your child’s spending, and you do not have to worry about sending money with your child to school. Nuestra Feria del Libro de otoño se llevará a cabo del 9 al 13 de noviembre. La forma más sencilla para que su hijo realice compras es configurar una billetera electrónica (*e-wallet*) para el evento. QUARTER-ZIP SWEATSHIRTS FOR SALE
We have red, light gray, and charcoal quarter-zip sweatshirts available for our Junior High students. These may be worn on regular school days, not just spirit wear days. The cost is $35 per sweatshirt, and students may purchase these from the main office. All sizes are adult sizes.
SUDADERAS DE CIERRE-TRES CUARTOS EN VENTA
Tenemos disponibles sudaderas con cierre tres cuartos en colores rojo, gris claro y gris obscuro para nuestros alumnos de Secundaria. Estas pueden utilizarse en cualquier día regular, no solo en los días de espíritu. El costo es de $35 por sudadera, y los estudiantes pueden comprarla en la oficina principal. Volunteers Wanted - Seamstresses Needed
Para For the Christmas program, the 5th grade will be performing an arrangement of “The Night Before Christmas.” I would like the boys to wear night caps and the girls to wear what are called “mop caps.” I have purchased old white sheets and washed them. I will cut the material and provide all the thread and elastic needed. I just need help sewing them up. If you have a sewing machine and the time to sew a few, that would be a blessing because that’s a lot of hats to make. Please send me a note or an email, if you are available to help.

Se buscan voluntarios - Se necesitan personas que sepan hacer costura
Para el programa de Navidad, los de 5to grado harán una representación de ”La Noche antes de Navidad.” Me gustaría que los niños llevarán puestos gorros de dormir y las niñas usarán gorras de baño. Compré sábanas blancas usadas y ya las he lavado; yo cortaré la tela y proporcionare todo el hijo y el elástico necesario. Solo necesito ayuda para la confección. Si tiene una maquina de coser y tiempo para confeccionar algunos gorros, seria de gran ayuda, ya que hay que hacer muchos gorros. Por favor, Envíeme una nota o un correo electrónico si puede ayudarnos..

8th Grade Trash Bag Sales
It’s that time of year when we know many of you are beginning to bag up your leaves and clean out your gardens. If you are interested in purchasing trash bags from the school office, we are selling rolls for $11 a piece. All proceeds go to fund the eighth grade class trip. An initial order form was sent home with all students this week, if you are interested in purchasing any. We do sell these bags throughout the year as well, so you may consider purchasing some in the spring as well.

Box Tops for Education
In case you haven’t heard, the collection of Box Tops is now moving away from the traditional clipping of Box Tops to now scanning your receipt! The new and improved Box Tops mobile app uses technology to scan your store receipt to find participating products and then instantly adds the Box Tops to our school’s earnings online. Simply go to your app store and download the Box Tops for Education app. Then choose St. Michael School (3352 West 30th Street, Indianapolis). It’s easy and saves you time!
