Grow It!

Our Wednesday morning farm program, for children and caregivers, started back up a few weeks ago. It's been great to reconnect with friends and connect with new families.

We start each session with a welcome song and little bit of family yoga. Groups take turns doing a mini cooking class, planting or harvesting something in the children's garden, feeding the chickens and the goats, and taking a short walk through the forest. Then everyone gathers together to share a delicious meal, prepared by the kids using ingredients from the farm. On any given Wednesday, you might hear up to 6 or 7 languages being spoken during our meal together!

Resting Spots

The last piece of the Tree Trail is now complete! Four sturdy new benches have been placed along the half mile trail that winds through our forest. Visitors can sit for a rest, contemplate the wonders of nature, and enjoy our beautiful space.

Piedmont Farm Tour

We are very excited to be a host farm for this year's Piedmont Farm Tour, on April 26th and 27th . Come enjoy a tour of the gardens, see the chickens, a herding demonstration with the goats and Penny the Border Collie, and join a guided walk along the forest trail. We will have farm veggie empanadas freshly prepared by Chef Netta.

Harvest for Local Food Banks

Over the past weeks we have donated 103 pounds of kale, 12 pounds of chard, and 10 pounds of spinach to Orange County Congregations in Mission and to the Yanceyville community outreach. We are grateful to these partner organization for their work distributing food to people who need it.

Morning Prayer

On April 13, we will begin a new series of Morning Prayer written by members of the Spring Forest community. We will have different writers daily for Holy Week, and then weekly through the rest of the year. Incorporating the rhythm of our Rule of Life, we will also draw from the Book of Celtic Prayers from Iona, and from the Revised Common Lectionary.

If you are interested in being part of the creative process in any way -- writing one or more prayers, or helping with basic editing -- please let us know (office@springforest.org). The prayers will be posted on the website a few days before each week begins.

This is a work of love for the community near and far. We celebrate the

many people who join the weekly morning and/or evening prayer times.

Yoga in the Barn

Join us for a welcoming yoga class designed for all levels, Thursdays at 9am. Each class will begin with a centering practice or guided breathing exercise. We'll move through a series of postures and movements that build strength, balance, and mobility. We'll always end with a period of stillness and relaxation.

Holy Week

Join us on Thursday, April 17th as we remember Jesus' last supper, where he washed his disciples feet. We'll gather in the barn for a soup potluck at 6pm (bring soup and/or bread to share), followed by a time of worship at 7pm, where we'll share Communion and handwashing together.

We'll then gather on Good Friday (April 18th) at 7pm at the chimney to remember Jesus' last hours on Earth in a service of darkness, story, silence, and ritual.

On Easter Sunday we'll gather for a sunrise service at 7am, outside (weather permitting) or inside at the Forest House, followed by a potluck breakfast.
