Dreaming of Summer

Holiday travel is already in the rear view window, which means it’s time to begin making plans for an amazing summer adventure. It's almost as if the summer season was created just for travel - warm temps, long days... the best time to create memories and relish travel experiences abroad. Where will your next journey take you to? Read on for summer inspo.

GREEK ISLANDS It's time to add Corfu, Paros, and Anti-Paros to the mix as these are some of the most beautiful islands in Greece and should be seriously considered when planning your trip. With warm seas clear as glass, stunning white sands, and picture-perfect landscapes, these islands are a stunning destination. Whether you are looking for culture and architecture, mouthwatering local cuisine, nightlife, outdoor activities, or relaxing in a luxurious spa, you will be able to enjoy it all in one idyllic trip to the Greek islands.

AZORES Located roughly halfway between Europe and America, the Azores are an incredible group of islands perfect for a summer getaway. The landscape and wildlife are so beautiful and unique that it would be hard not to spend most of your time exploring the area's natural wonders. Enjoy walking on trails featuring stunning views of the area's famous lakes, bathe in hot springs, soak in the beautiful vistas overlooking Sete Cidades, go on a whale-watching tour, or dive in the Atlantic Ocean overflowing with vibrant sea life. The cuisine is divine, and the most popular dish of the Azores is cozido das furnas, a stew cooked inside a volcano!

SOUTH AFRICA Head to South Africa on a safari this summer (winter in South Africa) to cool off and enjoy its crisp air. The optimal time to go is during the dry season, from May to October, when the grass is low, visibility is excellent, and you'll discover more wildlife congregating around the watering holes. Stay at one of the luxury camps in the area. Wake up and experience cozy fireside mornings sipping on a hot beverage while taking in the gorgeous landscape and up-close viewings of wild game. Absolute bucket list.

Xigera Safari Lodge

Botswana

Xigera Safari Lodge is a love letter to the magic of the African bush. Every aspect is handcrafted to beguile our guests’ senses and stir their souls – from the evocative interiors to one-of-a-kind encounters. Transformed by Africa's life-enhancing beauty, it is a story of remarkable renewal. Of rebirth and family legacy, and of the pioneering spirit that drives us to seek out Africa’s wild spaces. The same spirit that inspired this remarkable reimagining, perhaps a complete reinvention, of an Okavango Delta safari. This is Xigera (pronounced ‘kee-jera’), named for the Pied Kingfisher that makes its home amid the watery channels of Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve. The culmination of a lifelong dream of the Tollman family, drawing on six decades of devotion to unparalleled luxury in service.

Japan

Tea Ceremony

The Japanese art of the tea ceremony is to create a bond between the host and guest while gaining inner peace. It’s a notable cultural activity that combines silence, respect, and symbolic purification altogether.

Overall there are two main types of tea ceremonies in Japan: an informal tea gathering chakai which will include some sweets and thin tea, and a formal tea gathering chaji usually including a full-course meal followed by sweets, thick tea, and thin tea. Relax and enjoy this centuries-old tradition in a beautiful and private setting with your family or friends. Along with the two main types of tea ceremonies, there are options to choose less traditional ceremonies in Japan depending on the occasion, season, and time of day.
