Monthly Jane Addams Branch Event

These events will feature special announcements, guest speakers, WILPF US leaders (Board members, International Reps, issue committee and ad hoc committee chairs, and branch chairs), and comments and discussion with all attendees.

Please register in advance for this 5 pm PT / 6 pm MT / 7 pm CT/ 8 pm ET meeting, using this link. After registering you’ll receive the Zoom link and other information on how to join the meeting.

The March 20 Guest Speakers

Rev. Laura George, JD is a new WILPF member in Virginia and the executive Director of The Oracle Institute, a charitable think-tank that studies the nexus between politics, religion, human rights, and conscious evolution. (www.TheOracleInstitute.org). Laura is headquartered at the Peace Pentagon at the Oracle Campus (www.PeacePentagon.net), where she works on women’s issues and peace building.

At our March JA event, Laura will present a strategic plan – the FOUNDING MOTHERS MOVEMENT. This is an ambitious two-year plan for a global, women-led movement to shift the paradigm from patriarchy to partnership. The precise demands of the movement are two-fold: (i) universal legal rights for all women (including reproductive rights); and (ii) an end to war.

The plan calls for a “Founding Mothers Commission” to prepare for a global Women’s Congress on Mother’s Day 2024. Laura has asked that WILPF be a partner in this plan, along with other prominent women’s groups. Subsequently, peace and spiritual groups will be added to the coalition – the same trifecta the suffragettes organized to obtain voting rights and passage of the Kellogg Briand Pact nearly 100 years ago.

Nancy Price is Co-chair of the Earth Democracy Issue Committee and the Chair of the Congress Program Committee She will preview of the 35th WILPF US Congress, highlighting the program for this virtual Congress.

Nancy will present some of the topics and speakers on the theme, “Water on the Frontlines for Peace.” She’ll describe plans for “virtual breakout rooms" for book discussions, music, poetry, social hours and more. Join us for Q & A on moving forward the next two years for education, advocacy and action on water for people and the planet.

Join us each month!

We welcome all WILPF members to come to these opened up Jane Addams Branch meetings. Join us on the third Wednesday of each month at this same time. Please register in advance using this link.

The sequence of speakers is guest speaker(s), WILPF US leaders, and then everyone.
