Detachment Commander
Glen Johnson IV
My goals for this year are to continue the work on charter only squadrons, membership through mentorship, and increasing the squadrons over all tech literacy.
Remember to please reach out to your members to get their dues in! I would also like for you to look at the award opportunities the National SAL has to offer and see if there are any you would like to apply for. There were many categories at National this year where there were only one or two submissions. These awards are very much within our grasp as a Detachment.
District Commander’s, several of you have not selected a District SAL Advisor or District SAL Representative to the SAL Detachment Executive Committee, please do so ASAP. These are the gentleman who help to distribute information to your District’s Posts and Squadrons concerning the Sons of The American Legion from the Detachment and National levels.
Remember to send in your Squadrons Officers report with membership verification, Squadron Data Report for the 2026-2027 membership year, and the Consolidated Squadron Report for this year. Remember you will NOT receive your membership cards for the year 2027 if this has not been done.
The fall SAL DEC meeting with be October 25th at 9:00 AM at the Department Headquarters and on Zoom. We invite everyone to come down and attend our meeting to learn more about Detachment. If you do not want to travel, please contact Ann for the Zoom link.
If you would like me to come to any of your Squadrons, please feel free to reach out to me, I love to travel to meet as many of the SAL family in the state of Iowa as I can. If I cannot attend, I will be sure to have one of my three Vice Commanders make a stop! Let’s try to have a great and fun year!
