AKG Newsworthy NOLA #6

Hello, my friends and art lovers.
At present, the world around us is full of turmoil and unrest, but we can take respite in the equally dramatic but more
peaceful world of art.
We are reinventing the intimate experience of viewing art.
In our zoom series Artists Talk , we've hosted Owczarek, Baird, Kenny and Libra Max, Peter Max's daughter with collectors. We have videos on our Youtube channel, or join us for our talks every few weeks.
Michelle Gagliano is on September 2, zooming from her exhibit at the
William King Museum in Abingdon, Virginia.
Two weeks ago, I wrote from an optimistic "change is in the air" position. I still feel hopefulness, but since then we've seen wildfires, floods & storms, experienced peaceful & violent protests, heard truths & lies. When you are feeling the uncertainty around us, sit in front of
your art, put on your favorite music, and let it soothe you.
Slow the spread. Respect.

"When I put my brush to canvas, I never know what I'm going to paint. It's like when you're walking down the street with your hands in your pockets, humming a tune, you don't know what you'll be humming five minutes from now."

Artists Talk
An AKG Series
featuring
Michelle Gagliano

Please join our live series interacting with your favorite artists, learning about their lives, inspiration, and process.

Artists Talk
Michelle Gagliano
Wednesday, September 2nd, 7 - 8 pm Central Time.

Michelle will be presenting to us live via Zoom from her installation,
The Alchemy of Light
William King Museum of Art, Abingdon, VA.

Gagliano’s art is a continuous engagement with
experimentation of materials within the studio. Imaginary “natural” forms and textural patinas are melded in an exploration of surface alchemy, presenting the viewer
with a breathtaking panorama that evokes universal
themes and emotions.

This is a special event and space is limited.

A zoom link will be sent to you on Tuesday, the day before the Artist Talk.

Mark your calendars for future Artists Talk,
Aaron Reichert, Sept 23rd

Charlie Thysell
Charles Thysell and Angela King have had a long and great relationship in the art world. He began showing with her in
1990 and together they had many exhibitions, built many collections and shared his wonderful art with the world. Sadly, Charlie left this plane of consciousness this past April after a long struggle with cancer. We will miss our old friend. Just before Charlie died, Angela went to Minneapolis to visit him and together they chose a body of work not seen before by his collectors.
