A Sunny Day on the Links: Community Support Shines at the Mini‑Golf Tournament

Held last month at Pacific Paradise, the Ocean Shores Food Bank’s annual Mini‑Golf Tournament drew families, friends, and supporters from across our community. Laughter echoed across the course, friendly rivalries emerged, and the joy of simply being together made the day memorable.

We are deeply grateful to Pacific Paradise for once again welcoming the Food Bank onto their incredible facility at no cost. Their generosity and long‑standing partnership set the stage for this event year after year, and we could not hold the tournament without their support.

This event also benefited from the extraordinary generosity of our sponsors. We extend heartfelt thanks to our premier sponsors—Peak Credit Union, 1st Security Bank, and Ripple Fiber—whose leadership and commitment helped make the tournament a success.

We are equally appreciative of our many hole sponsors, each of whom played a vital role in making the day special: Arrow Lumber & Hardware, Boba Bliss & Co, Elephant Ears, Flying Cats Gift Shop, Fusions Art Gallery, La Spiaggia, Lolli & Pop Pop Collections, Martin Bruni Liquor, Men’s Room Barbershop, Michelle and Jeff King, North Beach Eagles #4197, Ocean Beach Roasters & Bistro, Ocean Shores Physical Therapy, Ocean Sunset Drug, Ocean Sunset Ship & Print, Oyhut Bay Realty, Oyhut Bay Seaside Resort, Pacific Paradise, Porthole Pub, RC Fence Construction, Red Sky Tattoo, Ripple Fiber, Shores Floors, Stage West Community Theatre, Susan Lily & Co, The Celtic Sunflower, The Garage Gastropub & Social, The Market at Oyhut, The Sugar Shoppe, and Too Cool Sportswear.

The support of these partners—and the enthusiasm of everyone who came out to play—strengthens the Food Bank’s work and helps us meet the growing needs of our neighbors.

As we move into the fall season, we carry with us the warmth of that sunny day and the reminder that when Ocean Shores comes together, we make a real difference.

Shores Gone Country Event Puts Food on Local Tables

Many thanks to North Beach Independent Media for their generous donation from the proceeds of their Shores Gone Country event. Their support — along with the support of so many across the North Beach- strengthens our work and helps us serve neighbors who rely on the food bank.

By the Numbers

September 2026

Total Households: 917

Total Household Members: 1,914

New Families: 14

Kids' Books Distributed: 116

Number of Volunteer Hours Logged: 1,120

During a recent distribution, one of our volunteers walked a guest’s groceries out to her car. As they loaded the bags, she smiled and said something that stayed with him:

“I really learned to cook coming here. I never used to cook with dried beans and other healthy items. It’s really made a difference. I eat so healthy now.”

Her words capture something we see again and again: when people have access to good ingredients — and a welcoming place to learn how to use them — confidence grows, skills grow, and health grows right alongside.

She didn’t just receive groceries. She discovered new foods, new habits, and a new sense of capability in her own kitchen. And that’s the quiet, powerful work your Ocean Shores Food Bank makes possible every week.

Ocean Shores Food Bank Seeks Two New Board Members

The Ocean Shores Food Bank Board of Directors currently has two open positions and is inviting interested volunteers to apply. As our community continues to face rising food insecurity, strong and engaged leadership is essential to sustaining our mission.

The food bank is governed by an 11‑member working board responsible for long‑term planning, program oversight, fundraising, and the development of organizational policy. We are especially seeking candidates with experience in leadership, grant writing, or fundraising—skills that will help strengthen the organization as we navigate upcoming challenges, including sustaining donations for ongoing food purchases and preparing for a future building project.

This year alone, our all‑volunteer team has contributed 10,000 hours distributing food to more than 1,000 households. That level of service is only possible because of dedicated volunteers—both on the front lines and behind the scenes.

October in Ocean Shores: Gratitude in a Season of Change

October has arrived, and with it comes that familiar nip in the air—the kind that makes us reach for sweaters, notice the earlier sunsets, and welcome the return of our favorite fall traditions. The excitement of Halloween is just around the corner, and along our beaches, the razor clam digs are back, bringing families and friends together in a uniquely Ocean Shores way.

Fall reminds us that while the seasons shift, some things remain steady and strong: the generosity of our Ocean Shores community.

Month after month, you show up for your neighbors. Your financial donations help us keep nutritious food on local tables. Your volunteer hours ensure that our doors stay open and welcoming. And the smiles you share as you shop at the food bank bring a warmth that rivals any autumn sunbeam.

This dependable kindness is what makes our mission possible. Because of you, families facing hardship can count on healthy food. Because of you, children can head into the school year nourished and ready to learn. Because of you, no one in our community has to face hunger alone.

As the days grow shorter and the season turns, we celebrate not only the fun and festivity of fall—from Halloween to clam digs—but also the steadfast compassion that defines Ocean Shores.

Thank you for being part of this work, for lifting up your neighbors, and for helping us ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.
