It was so good to see many of you at the Annual meeting of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP), the largest division of the International Academy of Pathology (IAP), in San Antonio, Texas. There were over 3400 attendees from 75 countries, including 760 attendees from outside North America and 675 on-demand registrants. Over 1700 abstracts were accepted, highlighting new knowledge and applications of pathology to patient care. The IAP also held an educational session - Professional Development and Mentorship Across the Global Spectrum of Resources - moderated by our Education Committee chair, Dr. Angela Chong (Singapore Division) and Dr. Joseph Rabban (USCAP).
The leadership of the IAP typically has in person meetings (and virtual, for those unable to attend) during this congress which includes the International Organizing Committee (that helps plan for the biennial conference), the Finance Committee, Education Committee and Executive Committee. Many reports from the Vice Presidents were also submitted, highlighting the recent meetings and scientific gatherings by divisions around the world. It is remarkable how much knowledge is shared worldwide by IAP members.
We are happy to report that our finances are strong, thanks to Dr. Treasurer, Dr. Eyas Hattab (USCAP), and Finance Committee Chair, Dr. Sigurd Lax (German and Austrian Divisions). As a result, we able to support meetings, ambassadorships and other educational activities. So please reach out to us at info@iapcentral.org for more information. It is why we exist!
