Early voting for the November 3 General Election has been an incredibly busy time for the elections office. Voters in Sarasota County have been engaged and energized to cast their ballots, and that excitement has so far led to a 36.6% voter turnout ahead of Election Day.

Through midday Thursday, October 29, more than 122,000 voters had already cast their ballots.

I say so far, because with three days of in-person early voting remaining, the turnout percentage will continue to climb. To date, 2026 early voting is up 47% over 2022 early voting for the same timeframe. Sarasota County turnout is consistently one of the highest in the state, and I’m hoping the voter enthusiasm will continue into Election Day.

Election Day is This Tuesday

If you haven’t made a plan to vote, time is running out. Here are a few suggestions to make sure you have a smooth voting experience, regardless of how you cast your ballot.

  • It's too late to return your vote-by-mail ballot in the mail. Instead, return it in person to an early voting site during early voting hours of operation or at one of three elections office locations. Check out step #7 of the How to Vote by Mail Instructions for more information.
