Outdoor Buddies Board Meetings - We Need YOU

Outdoor Buddies has always been an all-volunteer organization. None of the leadership of this incredible organization are paid staff, and we want to always keep it that way. We are grateful to have so many incredible volunteers to support our activities, participate in our fundraising efforts, and assist mobility impaired outdoorsmen in the field.

We are in need of volunteers to bolster the Outdoor Buddies board of directors and to keep the mission and vision of Outdoor Buddies alive for generations to come. Even a small contribution of your time and talent is a valuable gift. Whatever level of commitment you can offer, we will gladly accept whatever help you are able to give!

Our last two board meetings of the year will be held at locations different from our normal meeting rooms at Cabela's.

Please consider joining us at one of our upcoming board meetings to learn how you can get involved!

The Colorado Wildlife Council, formed by the state legislature in 1998, was conceived and developed by a diverse coalition of conservationists, outdoor recreationists, hunters, anglers, farmers, ranchers, and community leaders coming together to ensure a bright future for Colorado’s wildlife. By statute, the Council’s mission is to oversee the design of a public education program to inform the general public about the benefits of wildlife, wildlife management, and wildlife-related recreational opportunities in Colorado, specifically hunting and fishing.

The Colorado Wildlife Council consists of nine individuals representing various interests throughout Colorado.

Recipe: Antelope backstrap in Sage Butter

Credit: nevadafoodies.com

Antelope is such a tender and flavorful meat that it makes it easy to prepare with minimum ingredients and minimum cooking time. I really enjoy using rubs on our wild game and making sure that the meat is room temperature before cooking. This recipe is quick, easy and full of high intensity flavors. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound antelope backstrap
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sage leaves, roughly chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper

Directions

  1. Cut antelope into ½ inch thick medallions.
  2. Mix together cumin, garlic powder, salt and pepper and rub all over medallions.
  3. Heat cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and melt butter. Add sage leaves and cook until sage begins to get a little crispy.
  4. Carefully add antelope to sage butter and sear for 1 minute.
  5. Turn and cook for another minute.
  6. Remove and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
