Summit Family Christmas
Father Dyer, joined by friends in the community, is again partnering with FIRC to provide Christmas presents for Summit County families that might need some extra cheer. This program is different from Adopt an Angel in that we adopt the entire family. We will adopt 45 families as part of Summit Family Christmas. If you would still like to participate, we're collecting new blankets and bedding in neutral colors. We also have several larger items and are hoping to find used items to meet these needs. These include two cribs, a baby swing, a dresser or storage solution and a sewing machine.
Please sign up here if you would like to donate any of these items.
If you have questions, you may call Barbara Gibbs at 970-333-9636 or email Carol Craig at carolcraiginc@gmail.com
Thank you for your help!
Our schedule:
November 11 Adopter sign up deadline (email Carol or Barbara below)
November 22 Family information provided to adopter
December 11 Gift drop off at the Silverthorne Pavilion
If you would prefer to donate rather than adopt, please make your check out to Father Dyer and put Summit Family Christmas in the memo line. Donated funds will be used to provide City Market gift cards to each family and buy other essentials such as car seats. Checks can be mailed to Father Dyer at PO Box 383, Breckenridge, CO 80424.
Please spread the word to friends! Donations will be used to adopt a family or to purchase critical items for families such as a car seat.
If you would like to participate or would like more information, please contact:
Carol Craig, carolcraiginc@gmail.com or Barbara Gibbs, gibbsbjg@gmail.com, 970-333-9636.

Christmas Offering
The Outreach Committee of the Father Dyer United Methodist Church has selected the recipient charity organizations for the church's Christmas Offering. All of the offerings collected during our Christmas Eve service, those sent electronically with the memo "Christmas Offering" specified, and by check with "Christmas Offering" on the memo line will be split 50-50 between two charities. One half will be given to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) National Disaster Relief fund for services to victims of hurricanes in the USA. The other half will be given to the Family and Intercultural Resource Center's (FIRC) free community food markets in Summit County.
If you wish to donate electronically to the Christmas Offering, go to www.fatherdyer.church , click on "Give" in the top menu, under "Choose Fund(s)" choose "General Giving" then write "Christmas Offering" in the Memo box.

What Is UMCOR?
UMCOR is the United Methodist Committee on Relief. It was founded in 1940 in response to the needs of displaced and vulnerable populations following World Was II. It has an A+ rating from CharityWatch because 97% of their budget goes to people in need and only 3% to overhead administration. Father Dyer UMC gives to specific missionaries and mission projects within UMCOR as well as to general support areas including Global Migration & Refugees, Abundant Health, and National and International Disaster Relief.
In a recent report to donors, UMCOR gave some numeric result figures to donors. In the Global Migration & Refugees area, UMCOR has directly assisted 318,063 Ukrainian refugees in 13 countries and has assisted 31,800 people in Gaza with the help of partner organizations. In the Abundant Health area, UMCOR has improved the health of 2.2 million people through support to mothers and children, disease eradication, medical staff training and clinic and hospital revitalization. In the International Disaster Relief area, UMCOR has assisted 267,000 people in collaboration with partner organizations in the DR Congo, Madagascar, and other locations affected by extreme weather events. In the National Disaster Relief area, UMCOR has helped people in Florida and other states affected by Hurricane Helene and other storms and floods. UMCOR reminds us that 57% of severe-weather deaths are experienced by the poorest 1/3 of Americans and 95% of the damage caused by Hurricane Helene this year was uninsured.
We should all be proud of the support Father Dyer UMC gives to UMCOR through our Outreach Committee. If you are moved to contribute directly also, go to giveumcmission.org/seethedifference.

Reeeeeach for it! How many Father Dyer volunteers does it take to install a pipe? Stay tuned to find out!

Cooking is hard work! With a stove that has a pipe for the smoke to go outside makes everyone's life better. Please consider donating to put more stoves in houses. Moms and babies depend on us.
Bringing the brick to brick and mortar. This ventilation will save this household from breathing in toxic smoke.
If you'd like to contribute to the Guatemala mission work, please consider donating to Father Dyer and putting Guatemala on the memo line. Each stove or water filter is $450.

Meals Ministry
Food has long been a means for sharing care and comfort with others. Father Dyer's Meals Ministry is a way we can do just that - share care and comfort with those in our congregation who may be experiencing sorrow (loss of a loved one), joy (birth of a baby), or are just in need of some additional care due to life circumstances. Would you be willing to prepare and deliver a meal to help with this ministry? Contact Barb Wolitzky at baw4782@aol.com and let her know that you'd like to be added to the Meals Ministry list!

FATHER DYER SCHOLARSHIP FUND
As this year comes to an end and you evaluate your end-of-year giving, please consider making a donation to the FDUMC Scholarship Fund. We have awarded 5 scholarships in three years! Also, we were able to give extra funds to second year college students. Please join those others that have previously donated. The Scholarship Fund is a designated fund that does not receive any money from pledges. Together, our church family can let our students know that they are important to us.

Short Stories by Jesus
The Sunday morning Adult Education class has finished our study of Max Lucado’s book, “Jesus, The God Who Knows Your Name”. We have chosen a new book for our next study, beginning November 10, and would love for you to join us! Please read Chapter 1 for the start on November 10th, and bring your calendars to sign up to lead discussions. LeeAnn will lead November 10th, but then will be out of town the remainder of November.
Short Stories by Jesus, by Amy-Jill Levine, is a study of some of Jesus’ well-known parables from a perspective we may not have considered.
In this wise, entertaining, and educational book, Amy-Jill Levine offers a fresh, timely reinterpretation of Jesus’ narratives. In Short Stories by Jesus, she analyzes these “problems with parables,” taking readers back in time to understand how their original Jewish audience understood them. Levine reveals the parables’ connections to first-century economic and agricultural life, social customs and morality, Jewish scriptures and Roman culture. With this revitalized understanding, she interprets these moving stories for the contemporary reader, showing how the parables are not just about Jesus, but are also about us—and when read rightly, still challenge and provoke us two thousand years later.
Paperback versions can be ordered through Amazon. Because each parable is “stand alone”, it won’t matter if you miss a class here and there. Join us in the Community Room, just down the hall from the Eclipse theater, Sunday mornings at 10:30. We hope to see you on November 10th!
