HCBA's Young Lawyers Committee presents

Building Your Financial Foundation: A Practical Guide for Young Lawyers

Tuesday, December 8, 2026

5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

This program is a Zoom presentation

This program is eligible for 1.0 credit hour of Connecticut Continuing Legal Education (CLE).

Program Description

This session is designed to give young lawyers a practical framework for defining their financial goals, getting organized, and prioritizing the decisions that matter most early in their careers.

We'll cover:

  • Cash flow planning (managing salary, bonuses, and expenses)
  • Debt management with a focus on student loans
  • Avoiding lifestyle inflation and making intentional choices that compound over time
  • Workplace investing and tax optimization (401(k) setup and match, Roth vs. pre-tax contributions)
  • Benefits decisions (insurance, HSA vs. FSA, and related strategies)

The goal is to leave attendees with clear next steps they can act on, rather than a high-level overview.

Our Speaker

Steve Jordan is a Wealth Advisor and Strategic Financial Planner at Alchemi Wealth LLC with over 14 years of experience in financial services.
