A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT & CEO
|
Greetings,
Thank you to so many of our investors and partners who joined us last week for a spectacular Quarterly Investors Luncheon, featuring a panel of FIVE national site selection consultants. A big thanks as well to Patrick Ethridge of the Albuquerque Journal who moderated the discussion.
During that program, I had the opportunity to share information about our strong pipeline of business development activity but the precarious nature of our ability to attract future businesses without a significant focus on investment in site readiness as a top priority. Stay tuned for a number of upcoming discussions focusing on solutions to this challenge.
Finally, our BIG announcement of the year so far: AREA has achieved premier national status as an Accredited Economic Development Organization, becoming the first economic development organization in the state of New Mexico to achieve this international level of recognition through the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) and one of only 79 globally. A huge thanks to our Board members, partners, and of course stellar AREA team that made this possible.
With gratitude,

IN THE NEWS: HEADLINE HIGHLIGHTS

Biden-Harris Administration Announces Preliminary Terms with Intel: The proposed CHIPS investment by the Biden Administration, combined with Intel's commitment, represents one of the most significant investments ever seen in U.S. semiconductor manufacturing.
AREA has officially earned Accredited Economic Development Organization status by the International Economic Development Council: The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) announced today that the Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance has been recognized as one of only 79 economic development organizations accredited by IEDC as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO). The AEDO program is a comprehensive peer review process that measures economic development organizations against commonly held standards in the profession and recognizes the professional excellence of economic development organizations (EDOs). The program consists of two phases: a documentation review and an onsite visit. Each phase is designed to evaluate information about the structure, organization, funding, programs, and staff of the candidate economic development organization.
AREA, like any similar organizations across the country, is always hard at work promoting the region and working to increase its competitiveness. One key way to do this is to invite site selection consultants – experts who specialize in advising expanding or relocating companies in finding the most suitable locations for their investments and operations – for custom, on the ground market tours. Site selection consultants provide location strategy to corporations nationally and internationally across regions and industries. They are tasked with eliminating locations from consideration to identify the best location for their clients in which to expand or relocate. Their considerations include everything from labor cost and availability to transportation, cost and availability of property, quality of life, and overall operational costs and business environment.
