In Our Prayers

Becky Gray asks that we remember in our prayers her friend Natalie, who tragically lost both parents recently. May God grant her solace and peace in this time of grief.

Please be in prayer for Floyd Putney, a family friend of the Bynums, who was hospitalized this week. Floyd is currently undergoing cancer treatment.

We pray for Jeff Carpenter's uncle Larry Jackman who is also in the hospital.

We continue to lift up the people of Los Angeles California who are under severe threat from fires that continue to burn out of control, and especially those families who have lost loved ones. We also remember those closer to home who have also been displaced by fire, including families in the Bronx.

Do you have a prayer request to share with our LAC community? Call our prayer line at (914) 834-1800, ext. 342.

Celebrating the

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

This past Sunday it was our privilege to offer the Sacrament of Baptism to John (“Jack”) Miller Thompson, son of John Thompson and Jean Colby, and

Noah Wolfgang Thompson, son of Gordon Thompson and Astrid Thompson Oviedo.

Blessings to these children of God and their families!

Thank You to the LAC Congregation!
(A Note from Church & Community Committee)
The success of LAC's annual Christmas Basket Program, coordinated by the Church and Community Committee, was a heartwarming reflection of our congregation's commitment to serving others. Through the generous support of our community, we were able to provide Christmas gifts and essentials to 12 families and 34 individuals, within our congregation and referred to us by our mission partners at the Community Resource Center. Together, we raised over $3,400, with excess funds directed to support the upcoming LAC mission trip in February.
This incredible effort was made possible by everyone’s contributions, and we are deeply grateful for the kindness and generosity that brought joy to so many during the holiday season.
We extend special thanks to our faithful LAC Delivery Team—Ernest Wong, John Farris, Clark Morehouse, and John Irving—who ensured that every family received their gifts before Christmas. The families were overwhelmed with gratitude, expressing heartfelt thanks for the thoughtfulness and care shown to them.
One delivery highlighted the universal power of love and generosity when language barriers were overcome using Google Translate, as Clark Morehouse noted, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” In these moments, the spirit of LAC shone brightly, reminding us all of the true meaning of Christmas and the joy that comes from sharing God’s love with others.

Annual Meeting of the Congregation and the Corporation

The Annual Meeting of the Congregation of the Larchmont Avenue Church, as well as the Larchmont Avenue Church Corporation, will take place during worship this Sunday, January 19, 2025. The agenda for the meeting will include, among other things, receipt of the 2024 Annual Report and the 2025 budget, as well as reviewing the updated pastoral terms of call.

ORDINATION SUNDAY

On Sunday, January 26th, LAC's incoming class of elders and deacons will be ordained and installed. New trustees will also be installed into their new roles.

Ordination is an act of the church, whereby those who have been called

by God to serve as officers in the church receiving a special blessing for their work through prayer and the laying on of hands. Ruling elders, deacons, and ministers of the Word and Sacrament are eligible for ordination in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Installation, which will also occur next Sunday, marks the beginning of an elected role in the church. Elders and deacons who have previously been ordained to those positions will begin their time of service in this manner, as will newly-elected trustees.

Ordination and installation is a special moment in the lives of the candidates and the congregation. We hope that you will join us in worship on Sunday, January 26th to ask God's blessing upon them

and our ministries.
