July 24th, 2026

Hello Friends & Neighbors,

I am grateful to be able to reach you through this medium.

Community engagement is at the forefront of my mission to provide resources, events, and support for our residents and businesses. My motto of "Putting You First...Keeps Us First" will continue to be my guide. I look forward to engaging with you more in the future!  Please take a look at the various events, projects, programs and share with your contacts.

This July, I join communities across Broward County and across the nation in recognizing National UV Awareness Month. As we enjoy Florida's beautiful beaches, parks, and outdoor spaces, it's also an important reminder to protect ourselves from the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays.

With Florida experiencing some of the highest UV levels in the country year-round, taking simple precautions can make a lasting difference for your health. Overexposure to UV radiation can increase the risk of skin cancer, premature skin aging, cataracts, and other eye damage. Whether you're spending the day at the beach, attending a community event, or simply running errands, wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen, protective clothing, sunglasses, and seeking shade during peak sunlight hours are easy steps that help reduce your risk.

This month, I encourage everyone to make sun safety part of your daily routine and help spread awareness with family, friends, and neighbors. Together, we can enjoy everything Broward County has to offer while protecting our health and well-being.

The County is joining together to help communities impacted by the devastating twin earthquakes in Venezuela. Residents and businesses are encouraged to donate new essential supplies, including bottled water, non-perishable food, tarps, tents, flashlights, batteries, sleeping bags, first-aid kits, diapers, personal care items, and other emergency necessities at designated County drop-off locations starting Monday, July 6. Every donation will help provide critical relief to families recovering from this disaster. Only new items will be accepted. Learn More

Community Engagements

Ribbon Cutting of Memorial's Douglas Road ER

It was a pleasure to join Memorial Healthcare System for the ribbon-cutting celebration of the new Memorial Healthcare Services Emergency Room on Douglas Road. Expanding access to high-quality emergency care is an important investment in the health and well-being of our community, and I am grateful to everyone who helped make this project a reality. I look forward to seeing the positive impact this new facility will have for residents and families across District 7!

National Association of Counties Conference

It was an honor to attend the 2026 National Association of Counties (NACo) Annual Conference alongside county leaders from across the nation. I appreciated the opportunity to exchange ideas, learn innovative best practices, and strengthen partnerships that will help us continue delivering exceptional service to the residents of Broward County. We are 3,069 counties strong!

AC Perry K-8 Sidewalk Improvement Project

Always great to support infrastructure projects such as sidewalk improvements in district 7. Here Miramar was able to secure State funding to provide this sidewalk through the MPO for students who attend AC Perry K-8 public school.
