The voice for pharmacy compounding
CALL TO ACTION:
Urgent Use Legislation
A simple fix to drug supply chain interruptions:
Tell your members of Congress to empower pharmacy compounders to provide urgently needed medications on a temporary basis when those drugs are in shortage
In the next 48 hours—as compounders attending PCCA’s ACT Conference do Capitol Hill office visits in DC—we’re asking you to send a message to your member of Congress. You may be back home minding the store, but you and your team members can help from afar in urging your elected officials to support legislative language enabling pharmacy compounders to help fill urgent gaps in the drug supply chain.

CONTACT YOUR U.S. HOUSE MEMBER AND YOUR TWO U.S. SENATORS!
Via our Voter Voice platform, it’s easy: You can send our pre-written message as is, or you can customize it as you wish (maybe add the name of your store, how many patients you serve in your area or state, etc.).

Point is, you need to urge them to pay attention to HR 167 by Griffith (R-VA and Cuellar (D-TX). The bill would equip compounders to temporarily provide urgently needed medications when those drugs are “currently in shortage” on the FDA shortage list and cannot be sourced from the manufacturer or an outsourcing facility. The bill would allow traditional compounders to prepare shortage drugs not only for hospitals but also for medical clinics if they cannot source needed drugs for in-clinic administration—say, for a cataract surgery—from the manufacturer or an outsourcing facility.

Please ask your U.S. House member to co-sponsor HR 167 and to push for its consideration in the Energy & Commerce Committee.

Please ask your two U.S. senators to urge the Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee to ADD the language of HR 167 to the pandemic preparedness bill that committee is working on.

Sending a message will take you all of three minutes. (Our platform will even find your members of Congress for you, based on your address.)

Thank you for doing your part to advocate for your compounding practice. Please share with your compounding teammates and urge them to send messages, too!
