OESP Board Hosts Annual Spring Meeting | |
|
There was plenty of excitement about the upcoming Eastern Energy Expo, as more than 55 members of the OESP Board of Directors met in Hershey, PA for the annual spring Board of Directors meeting.
“Things at the EEE are really shaping up,” OESP National President Scott Vadino said. “The exhibit hall is nearly sold-out again, and our block of hotel rooms at Mohegan Sun is nearing capacity, which is very exciting and shows the enormous interest in the conference.”
As always, there was plenty of camaraderie in the hospitality room. “It was great to see friends that haven’t been together in six months, since the Fall Oilheat Retreat,” Vadino said. “It is always a good time when OESP comes together. Thank you to Rick Glownia and the hospitality crew for coordinating the food and spirits.”
This year we started the weekend with a Tech night with an estimated 100 people in attendance. Eleven of our partners exhibited over dinner, dessert and plenty of OESP shirt giveaways for the students. It was our first return to Hershey in several years and it was an excellent start to the retreat.

Friday morning, thanks to the hard work of Angel Gonzalez, Bob O’Rourke and Pete Gonzalez, OESP held its first student competition at Thaddeus Stevens. Students of Matt Bixler and Ty Christman competed in competitions such as HVAC wiring, piping squares, diagnostics and combustion throughout the day. Thank you to Steve and Faye Schwanger for coordinating breakfast and lunch.
As we finished the fun and moved into board business, finance chair Charley Holmes was pleased to report that OESP finished with a solid profit for 2023. “Once again, for another fiscal year, we are ending in the black,” Holmes said. “We continue to do well largely due to the success of the Eastern Energy Expo and our careful stewardship of funds.”
The education team met as well to review the outstanding lineup of EEE courses they have scheduled for OESP attendees. You definitely won’t want to miss this opportunity at the Mohegan Sun!
While the focus is EEE, we are already planning for next year. Are you interested in a leadership position with OESP on a national level? If so, please talk with your chapter president. The more hands, the better, as OESP focuses on more events, more members and more professional growth.

The Westchester Chapter held its March monthly meeting, which drew a full house largely thanks to Justin Romano's efforts on Instagram. Since transitioning to our new venue, we've consistently experienced packed gatherings, with attendance exceeding expectations.
This time, we were honored to host Bob Daros from Heritage Fuel and Propane, who delivered an informative presentation on propane handling. With his background as a member of New York State's emergency response team, Bob offered valuable insights into safety protocols and emergency procedures associated with this fuel. Drawing from past experiences, he shared compelling case studies, stressing the importance of proper installation methods. As we venture into 2024, we're eager to continue delivering high-quality content for our growing membership base.
