The Awful Fallout from
Winter Workplace Celebrations
Greetings!

Can I be real with you? Like completely honest?

December can be a great time to catch up with family, watch holiday movies, and just be still for a moment. "Kaleb (or Jay or Kathy or Mittens), could you go over there and play with your new toys? I need to be in a quiet corner with some egg nog and ponder what I would ask from a fairy godmother."

December can be tough in the workplace:
  • a virtual holiday celebration took a bad turn when one visibly drunk employee made insensitive remarks;
  • several employees got the flu and the staff without family trips (i.e. the singles) are angry about cancelling plans to cover for them;
  • an in-person celebration leads to complaints about discrimination;
  • a troubled employee realized he won't get a bonus and threatens to go to HR;
  • a key project is in shambles and the CEO humiliates the team leaders;
  • hostilities snowballed when two friends compared notes and realized there was a significant gender gap in pay; and
  • the annual reviews reveal one supervisor alienates staff and they want her replaced.

Genesis, how do you know this? I heard all the crystal balls were sold out...

Because every January, we get calls from leaders with these problems and so many more. These C-Suite, GCs, HR Managers and ED's are doubly stressed. First, they have to deal with whatever the conflict is. Second, they have to scramble for the funds to hire us because a couple weeks ago, they didn't think to put conflict resolution in the budget. Oof.

Do you know what they all say? "I wish I would have thought of this last month when we could have added it to the budget or pre-paid with our profit (and saved on taxes)."

This is a PSA and a big ol' flare that these workplace issues are coming. Are you prepared?

We have your back!

  1. Put us on retainer for mediation/facilitated dialogues in the new year.

Setting Leadership Resolutions!

2022 is right around the corner and so are New Year's Resolutions. Tradition leans towards: take that trip, lose 10 pounds, and run a marathon. But you are not traditional.

Leaders think differently. At this time of year, you're thinking about your team's feedback and how to inspire them. You're remembering this year's missteps and trying to glean important lessons. You're wondering how you can shift your leadership style to be more efficient, transparent and inspiring. You're also thinking about what you can do to decrease the stress and strife within your office.
Good news: you don't have to do this planning alone.

Join us on December 14th for a quick discussion about
setting New Year's Resolutions for your leadership and workplace.
