Spring 2025

Reminder: Call for Public Comment

On February 27, 2025, the NAAB Board of Directors published a call for public comment on proposed revisions to the NAAB Procedures for Accreditation. The proposed revisions align the timeline for student work collection with the narrative in the APR and introduce a policy that provides programs with an opportunity to request a temporary variance from the Conditions due to unexpected circumstances. The public call is open February 27−March 29, 2025.

Changes to NAAB Conditions

Following a public comment, at its December 2024 meeting the NAAB Board of Directors approved changes to the 2020 Conditions for Accreditation: 5.6 Physical Resources, 6.4 Public Access to Accreditation Reports and Related Documents, and 6.5 Admissions and Advising. These changes reflect a reduced administrative burden on programs related to reports and documents required to be made public and provide flexibility for programs in their compliance with changes in federal and state treatment of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Additionally, the 2020 Procedures for Accreditation were updated to align with the revised Conditions. Updated Conditions, Procedures, and Guidelines are available here.

Recap: NAAB at AIAS Forum 2025

NAAB had the pleasure of attending the AIAS Forum on January 9-10, 2025, in Austin, TX. The AIAS Forum is the annual conference dedicated to design and career development for architecture students.

NAAB is proud to be one of the few accrediting bodies that actively involves student perspectives on these important teams, ensuring that students have a voice in the accreditation process.

It was a great opportunity to connect with the next generation of architects and engage in meaningful conversations about the value of student involvement in accreditation!
