Donald K. Winegar’s Collector’s Chat will be titled, “Rotted Wood, Rusty Metal, and Darn Good Fire-starters! A Hobby that became a Passion that became a Quest!”

Don’s bibliophily began in his elementary school library with fascination for exploration and the moon. He would soon discover the encyclopedia and, in 6th grade, he decided to read The Iliad and The Odyssey. By his teens he was reading history and his interest in mining history was born. For more than four decades, Don has frequented our bookstore and is among or favorite and most pleasant shoppers. For decades he has managed the website Treasure House Relics Project at MiningUtah.com. We understand the title of his Chat was lovingly scavenged from comments his wife made about his burgeoning collection of mining artifacts.
During the April 28th salon, bibliophile, customer, and frequent Salon guest Dianne Brown will share her books and her lifelong interest and fascination with The Great War, World War I. As her story goes, the interest took hold during adolescence and has held Dianne’s curiosity ever since. We understand she has hundreds of titles. I hope it’s okay to tell you that she adds another rare volume to her collection on each of her birthdays.
About the Collectors’ Book Salon

Weller Book Works Collectors' Book Salons feature libations and treats, social time for conversation and a special deal on rare books that is only available to guests. Books are bridges across the divides of time and space and they embrace the diversity of the human experience, we try to keep our treats, speakers and deals diverse, which is maybe another word for unpredictable. We encourage guests to dress up, or down, or weird, or playfully, to help our sensibilities out of predictable zones.

Glasses filled at 6:30 and we muster for the Collectors’ Chat at 7:15 in our Rare Book Room. The event has no digital component.
